How to Use Custom Values and Partial Quantities in Estimates

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge estimates support custom values at both the editor and settings level, plus fractional quantities for time-based services or partial-unit products.

Estimates need to match the way your business actually quotes work. Sparkforge supports two flexibility upgrades: custom values for fields you reuse, and fractional quantities for items measured in hours, weight, or partial units.

Custom values, two ways

Editor level — one-off changes

  1. Go to Estimates in your dashboard.
  2. Open or create an estimate.
  3. Find the Custom Values field and enter the value for this estimate.
  4. Save and send.

Settings level — defaults across all estimates

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Estimates Preferences.
  3. Define your custom values and save.

From that point, every new estimate auto-loads the predefined values. You can still override them per estimate from the editor.

Partial quantity support

Some line items do not fit whole-number quantities — 1.5 hours of consulting, 0.25 cubic yards of gravel, half a service call. Enter the fractional value directly in the quantity field.

  1. Open the Estimates module.
  2. Open or create an estimate.
  3. Add a line item and type the fractional quantity (e.g., 1.5, 0.25).
  4. Sparkforge calculates the line price based on the fraction.
  5. Save and send.

Useful for hourly services, construction materials, fuel, weight-based pricing, or any item where whole units do not match reality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix editor-level and settings-level custom values?
Yes. Predefined values from settings load by default; you can adjust them in the editor for a specific estimate without changing the defaults.
Does the price update automatically with fractional quantities?
Yes. Sparkforge multiplies unit price by the fractional quantity, so the line and estimate totals stay accurate.
Can fractional quantities be negative?
No. Quantities must be positive. Use a separate discount or credit line for negative adjustments.
Where does this fit in the Sparkforge plan tiers?
Estimates are part of the payments and CRM features included with the Standard plan and above.
