Create a Google Search Ad Campaign in Sparkforge Ad Manager

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge Ad Manager builds Google Search campaigns with up to 10 ad groups and 3 ads per group. Configure budget and bid strategy at the campaign level, keywords at the ad group level, and headlines plus descriptions at the ad level.

Sparkforge Ad Manager runs full Google Search campaigns from inside the platform. The structure mirrors Google Ads: a campaign holds up to 10 ad groups, each ad group holds up to 3 ads, and each level configures independently for testing and reporting.

Prerequisites

  • Agency has set the Ad Manager reselling price under Agency > Reselling.
  • Ad Manager is toggled on for the sub-account.
  • Each user who needs access has the Ad Manager permission enabled under Staff.
  • A Google Ads account is connected through the Ad Manager onboarding flow. One Google Ads account per Ad Manager instance.

Step 1: Create the campaign

  1. From Ad Manager, click Create Campaign.
  2. Select Google as the platform.
  3. Choose Start from scratch or pick a template.
  4. Click Next.

Step 2: Configure the campaign

Campaign-level setup

  • Name the campaign.
  • Bid strategy — Maximise Clicks (default for website traffic search campaigns). Optionally set a max CPC limit to cap per-click spend.
  • Daily budget — charged to the card on the connected Google Ads account. The currency follows the connected ad account; the start/end timezone follows the timezone you create the campaign in.
  • Geographic location — include or exclude by country, state, city, address, or coordinates. Radius targeting is supported but Google does not allow exclusion by radius.
  • EU political ads — required disclosure. Pick Yes or No; you can't publish without selecting.
  • Languages — pick every language your target audience speaks.
  • Gender and age — Male, Female, Unknown; ages 18–24 through 65+, plus Unknown.
  • Additional assets — business logos, image assets, call extensions, sitelinks.

Ad group-level setup

  1. Create up to 10 ad groups, each with its own name.
  2. Enter a base website URL for the ad group. This URL drives keyword suggestions and applies to every ad in the group.
  3. Add positive keywords — up to 40, max 80 characters each.
  4. Set match types per keyword: Broad, Phrase (default, wrapped in quotes), or Exact (wrapped in brackets).
  5. Optionally add negative keywords — up to 40, same character limit.

Use the ellipsis menu on an ad group to create a new ad, duplicate the group, or delete it. You can't delete the only ad group in a campaign.

Ad-level setup

Each ad group accepts up to 3 ads. For each ad:

  • Headlines — up to 15, 30 characters each. Three are required by default. Headlines display joined by a pipe character.
  • Descriptions — up to 4, 90 characters each.
  • Final URL — the page Google sends clicks to. Every ad in the same ad group shares the same base URL.
  • Display path — two optional segments, 15 characters each, used to build a clean visible URL on the ad.

Step 3: Review and publish

  1. Click Review to open the publish-ready summary.
  2. Toggle through each ad group and confirm at least 1 ad group exists with at least 1 ad in it.
  3. Verify content, budget, and targeting against your plan.
  4. Click Publish. Google charges the card on file in the connected ad account once the campaign goes live.

Stay inside Google's policies

Read Google's ads policy before publishing — non-compliant ads get rejected at review, which delays your launch. The policy doc is the source of truth for what content can run.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many ad groups can a single Google campaign hold in Ad Manager?
Up to 10 ad groups per campaign, with up to 3 ads per group. That gives you up to 30 ad variants per campaign for A/B testing.
Why is my campaign rejected at review?
Almost always a Google policy violation — disallowed claims, restricted product categories, or landing-page mismatches. Read Google's ads policy and revise the offending ad before resubmitting.
Can I exclude a city by radius?
No. Google supports radius targeting for inclusion only. Use city, state, or country boundaries when you need to exclude a region.
Where do ad spend charges hit?
Google bills the card on file in the connected Google Ads account directly. The Sparkforge Ad Manager subscription is separate and only covers using Ad Manager itself.
What happens if I don't select an EU political ads option?
You can't publish. Google requires the disclosure and the publish button stays disabled until you choose Yes or No.
