Course Email Notification Settings and Custom Video Thumbnails

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Course creators in Sparkforge can now toggle individual email notification types on or off and upload custom thumbnails for course videos.

Two updates landed for Sparkforge course creators: per-type control over student email notifications, and custom thumbnail uploads for course videos.

Email notification preferences

Toggle each notification type on or off so students only receive the emails that matter for your course.

Notifications you can control

  • Course sign-up emails
  • Offer access emails
  • Drip emails
  • Course comments emails
  • New course materials unlocked emails

Custom video thumbnails

Upload an image or pick a frame from the video as the thumbnail. A clear, on-brand thumbnail gives students a visual hook before they click and is consistent with how viewers scan content libraries.

Where to find these settings

Open the course in the Memberships app and use the lesson video options to set a custom thumbnail. Email preferences live in the course-level notification settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which course emails can I disable?
Sign-up emails, offer access emails, drip emails, comments emails, and new course materials unlocked emails. Toggle each independently.
Can I use a video frame as the thumbnail?
Yes. Pick any frame from the video or upload a custom image — whichever fits your course branding.
Do email preferences apply per course or per account?
Settings apply at the course level so different courses can have different notification mixes.
Will existing students keep getting old emails?
No. Once you change the notification setting, the new preference applies to subsequent emails for all enrolled students.
