Conditional Elements in Sparkforge Email Builder
Conditional elements let you show or hide content blocks in a Sparkforge email based on a contact's field values. One campaign covers every audience variation instead of cloning lists and templates.
Conditional elements let you show or hide content inside a Sparkforge email based on each contact's data. Instead of building separate campaigns for every audience slice, you set rules at the element level (text, image, button, row, or section) and let one campaign render differently for each recipient.
What conditional elements do
A conditional element only displays when a contact matches the criteria you set. Common uses:
- Location-based content: swap images or offers by city, state, or country.
- Field-based text: change copy based on job title, plan tier, interests, or any custom field.
- Empty-field fallback: hide an element when a field is blank so emails don't render placeholders.
Why it matters
- One campaign instead of branched smart lists.
- Higher relevance per recipient, which lifts clicks and replies.
- Fewer moving pieces to maintain when the offer changes.
How to set up a conditional element
- Open Marketing > Emails > Campaigns (or Templates) and load the email in the builder.
- Select the element you want to gate — text, image, button, or a full row/section.
- Open the Visibility tab in the element's settings panel, or click the conditional element icon in the element overlay.
- Toggle on Conditional Sending.
- Pick a Field, choose a Condition (
isoris not), and enter a Value. - Leave the value blank to target empty fields. The element will only render when the field has no value.
Targeting empty fields the right way
Don't type the word NULL as a value — it gets matched as a literal string. To target unset fields, leave the value blank and use Is empty. Make sure the contact's field has no spaces or placeholder text, or it won't be treated as empty.
Supported field types
Conditional elements work with single-line text, number, radio select, and single-select dropdown fields. For numeric fields, use plain digits with no symbols. For radio or single-select fields, the value has to match the stored option exactly.
