How to Set Up an A/B Test Email Campaign in Sparkforge
Sparkforge A/B email tests up to 6 subject line or content variations. You need at least 40 contacts (10 per variation), test duration runs 30 minutes to 24 hours, and the winner is chosen by open rate or click rate.
A/B testing in Sparkforge email campaigns lets you compare up to 6 versions of the same email. Pick what to test — subject line for open rate, content for click rate — set the sample size and duration, and Sparkforge sends the winning variation to the rest of your list automatically.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 contacts per variation.
- At least 40 total contacts to run any split test.
- Test duration: 30 minutes to 24 hours.
- Send method: Send Now or Schedule only. Batch and RSS schedules are not supported.
- If no clear winner emerges by the deadline, the first variation wins by default.
Set up the test
Step 1: Enable A/B testing
Go to Marketing > Emails, choose Campaign from the dropdown, and create a new campaign. Toggle on A/B Testing.
Step 2: Choose what to test
- Subject Line — optimizes open rate. Test length, personalization, urgency, curiosity hooks.
- Email Content — optimizes click rate. Test headlines, button copy, layout, images, CTA placement.
Step 3: Set duration
Pick a window between 30 minutes and 24 hours. Long enough for recipients to open and engage, short enough to keep the campaign moving.
Step 4: Set sample size and variations
Use the slider to assign what percentage of contacts get test variations. Up to 6 variations supported. Keep at least 10 contacts per variation.
Step 5: Choose the winning metric
Pick Unique Open Rate (best for subject line tests) or Unique Click Rate (best for content tests).
Step 6: Test, preview, and send
Click the three dots to test or preview. Set delivery to Send Now or Schedule for Specific Date/Time. After send, check enhanced statistics to see per-variation and overall campaign results.
