Client Portal App Permissions: Show, Hide, and Set Defaults
App Permissions in the Sparkforge client portal lets you toggle individual apps on or off, pick the default page on login, and rely on visibility rules to hide apps from contacts who have nothing to view.
App Permissions controls which apps and tabs appear inside the client portal, which page contacts land on after login, and how visibility rules hide apps that aren't relevant for a given contact.
Open App Permissions
- Log into your client portal and open the settings menu.
- Click App Permissions.
Enable or disable apps
Each app available to the portal shows up in the list with a toggle. Switch an app off to remove its functionality and hide it from every contact's view. Switch it back on to restore access.
Set the default landing page
Inside App Permissions, find the default page selector. Pick the page contacts should see immediately on login. Change it any time as your priorities shift.
How visibility rules work
Each app uses two checks to decide whether a contact sees it:
- The portal owner has enabled the app in App Permissions.
- The contact has something active or relevant inside that app. If there's nothing to view, the app stays hidden to keep the portal clean.
Visibility updates automatically. When you grant access or new content becomes available, the app appears for that contact. Disable the app in App Permissions and it stays hidden for everyone.
Examples of eligible content
- Courses: Visible after the contact has a course to access (for example, after their first course purchase or grant).
- Invoices, Estimates, Contracts: Visible when there's something for the contact to review.
- Affiliates: Visible when the contact has affiliate access or activity tied to their record.
