Auto-Scroll to First Error in Sparkforge Forms and Surveys

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge forms, surveys, and quizzes automatically scroll to the first invalid field on a failed submit and display inline error messages. The behavior is on by default for new and existing assets — no configuration required.

When a visitor submits a Sparkforge form, survey, or quiz with a missing or invalid field, the page automatically scrolls to the first error and highlights it inline. Surveys also display field-level error messages instead of a generic list at the top of the slide.

What auto-scroll and inline errors do

On a failed submit, Sparkforge moves the viewport to the first invalid field from the top and highlights it. Inline messages explain the problem at the field, not in a list far from where the user is looking.

Where it applies

  • Forms, surveys, and quizzes — single-step or multi-step.
  • Standalone pages and embeds on websites or funnels.
  • Mobile and desktop, optimized for both.

What you have to configure

Nothing. The behavior is enabled by default for new and existing assets.

Why it matters

  • Faster correction: users land on the field that needs attention.
  • Mobile clarity: small screens benefit most — errors at the top of a list are easy to miss.
  • Higher completion: a smoother correction flow reduces abandonment.

How it works in multi-step flows

For multi-step surveys and quizzes, the experience navigates to the slide containing the first invalid field, then positions the viewport at that field. Conditional logic is respected — only visible required fields are validated. If a new required field appears after an answer changes, the next submit attempt scrolls to it.

How it works with conditional logic

Only visible required fields trigger auto-scroll. Hidden conditional fields are ignored until they become visible. Each new submit attempt re-evaluates which fields need attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to enable auto-scroll on existing forms?
No. The behavior is on by default for both new and existing forms, surveys, and quizzes.
Does auto-scroll work in multi-step surveys?
Yes. The flow navigates to the slide containing the first invalid field and positions the viewport for correction.
Will this work on embedded forms outside Sparkforge?
Yes. Embedded forms on external websites and funnel pages auto-scroll the same way.
Does it affect analytics or conversion tracking?
Indirectly. Clearer error guidance reduces abandons, so completion rates usually rise. Compare your existing form analytics before and after.
Can I turn auto-scroll off?
There is no toggle. The improvement is part of the default validation experience for all assets.
