The Advanced Builder is the visual, freeform canvas inside Sparkforge Workflows. Drag-and-drop nodes, run parallel branches, route triggers with Go-To connections, and document logic with sticky notes and inline comments — all without changing how workflows execute under the hood.

How to open it

Open any workflow and toggle to Advanced Builder in the top-left. You can switch between Standard and Advanced views on the same workflow; some features are Advanced-only.

Build on the canvas

Add and connect steps

  1. Open the Triggers & Actions panel.
  2. Configure from the panel or drag items directly onto the canvas.
  3. Connect nodes by dragging from a connector handle (or the + icon).

Auto-connect on drop

  • Extend a branch: drop a step on the last node of a branch.
  • Insert between steps: drop a step between two connected nodes.

Configure and save the new step after dropping. Unconfigured actions do not run.

Bulk operations

  • Marquee or Shift-drag to multi-select.
  • Move blocks of nodes together.
  • Bulk Enable/Disable, Format Selection, and Add Sticky Note from the bulk menu.
  • Copy and paste branches across workflows to reuse patterns.

Go-To connections and parallel branches

Trigger Go-To

Route each trigger to the exact action where it should start. Drag the trigger's Go-To connector onto a target action — the connection appears as a dashed arrow. When the trigger fires, execution jumps directly to that action.

Delinked branches

Build clusters of actions that don't connect linearly. Attach a trigger via Go-To to start each branch. Branches run independently inside the same workflow context — useful when one workflow needs to handle multiple triggers or parallel outcomes.

Visual cues

  • Solid connector — sequential path.
  • Dashed arrow — Trigger Go-To.
  • Isolated cluster — delinked branch.

UX upgrades on the canvas

  • Stats Mode: per-node performance for quick optimization passes (read-only — workflows are not editable in Stats view, and stats cover the last 30 days).
  • Sticky Notes 2.0: image-ready notes for documenting logic and handoffs.
  • Workflow Comments: inline comments tied to specific nodes for team review.
  • Right-click Quick Actions: common operations from a context menu.

Default Path for Parallel Branches

When a workflow has multiple parallel branches, you can set a default path so the workflow keeps running predictably even if a branching condition does not match an explicit case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Advanced Builder change how my workflows execute?
No. The execution engine is the same as Standard. Advanced Builder only changes how you build, view, and document the workflow.
Can I switch a workflow between Standard and Advanced views?
Yes. Toggle between Standard and Advanced on the same workflow. A few features are Advanced-only and won't appear in Standard view.
What happens if I leave an action unconfigured?
It will not run. Workflows skip unconfigured actions, so finish configuring each step after you drop it on the canvas.
Can I edit a workflow while in Stats Mode?
No. Stats view is read-only and shows data for the last 30 days. Switch back to the editable canvas to make changes.
How do delinked branches start?
Attach a trigger to the branch using a Trigger Go-To connection. Each branch then runs independently inside the same workflow.
