By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The Remove Contact Follower workflow action removes one specific follower or all followers from a contact when a trigger fires. Common use: clean up followers when an opportunity closes.

The Remove Contact Follower workflow action drops followers from a contact based on workflow triggers. Use it to keep follower lists tidy as deals progress and team responsibilities shift.

How to Configure

Step 1: Pick the action

In the workflow builder, open the actions menu and choose Remove Contact Follower from the Contact category.

Step 2: Choose followers to remove

Either pick specific followers from the list, or flip the toggle to remove all followers at once. Save the action.

Example: Cleanup at Deal Close

Followers shift as opportunities move through pipeline stages. A clean handoff workflow:

  • Trigger: Opportunity Status Changed to Closed.
  • Action: Remove Contact Follower, removing the rep that was assigned during the active deal.

When the opportunity closes, the rep automatically drops off so notifications stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remove all followers at once?
Yes. Toggle the option to remove all followers in a single action instead of selecting individual users.
What happens to the contact when followers are removed?
Nothing changes on the contact record itself. Only the follower relationship is removed, so those users no longer receive notifications about the contact.
Can I conditionally remove followers?
Yes. Branch the workflow with if/else logic and route specific contact paths to different Remove Contact Follower actions.
Does removing a follower delete activity history?
No. Past activity stays on the contact record. Only the active follower relationship ends.
