How to Use the Go To Workflow Action in Sparkforge
The Go To action sends a contact to another action inside the same workflow. It can only be added at the end of a workflow or branch, not between actions.
What this action does
The Go To action lets you jump a contact to a different step in the same workflow. It's how you loop a contact back, merge branches, or skip ahead based on logic that's already run upstream.
Go To can only be added as the last step of a workflow or branch. You can't insert it between two existing actions.
How to configure
- Open workflow actions — Inside your workflow editor.
- Choose Go To — Pick it from the list of available actions.
- Name the action — For example, Go to Wait Step.
- Save — All eligible target actions get highlighted.
- Pick the destination — Click the action you want the contact to jump to.
- Disconnect when needed — Click the Disconnect GoTo icon under the action to change the target later.
Example: re-engage abandoned carts without re-emailing buyers
A retailer wants to nudge customers who abandoned a cart but skip anyone who already bought.
Trigger: Abandoned Checkout — duration over 10 minutes, cart value over $50.
- Email: Personalized abandoned-cart reminder with an incentive.
- Wait: 1 day.
- If/Else: Branch on the Purchased tag.
- Branch 2 (no purchase): Send a second reminder email, then a wait step.
- Branch 1 (purchased): Add a Go To pointing to Branch 2's wait step so logic merges cleanly.
Result: cart abandoners get the second nudge, buyers don't.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I place a Go To action?
Only at the end of a workflow or a branch. You can't drop it between two existing steps in the middle of a flow.
Can Go To target an action in a different workflow?
No. Go To only routes inside the same workflow. To hand off between workflows, use a workflow trigger from the destination workflow.
How do I change the target of a Go To?
Click the Disconnect GoTo icon below the Go To action, then pick a different highlighted action as the new target.
Will Go To create infinite loops?
It can if you point a Go To back to an earlier step without an exit condition. Add an If/Else or wait step with a tag check to make sure contacts can leave the loop.
