The Add Manual Sales for an Affiliate action logs revenue against a campaign and either auto-attributes the sale by URL parameter or maps it manually to a chosen affiliate. Commissions calculate from each campaign's default settings.

The Add Manual Sales for an Affiliate workflow action records revenue against an affiliate campaign and triggers commission calculation using the campaign's default rules. You can attribute automatically by URL parameter or map manually to a specific affiliate.

What the action does

When the workflow reaches this step, Sparkforge logs the revenue you specify against the affiliate and campaign you choose. Commissions calculate per the campaign's default commission settings and post to the affiliate's record.

Configure with auto-attribution

  1. Add the Add Manual Sales for an Affiliate action.
  2. Toggle Auto-Track Affiliate via Attribution on so revenue maps from the affiliate ID in the contact's URL.
  3. Choose First or Latest attribution.
  4. Pick the affiliate campaign from the dropdown.
  5. Enter the revenue. Optionally add the event date and an event ID (transaction or reference).
  6. Save.

First vs latest attribution

  • First attribution: the original interaction Sparkforge recorded for the contact (for example, the form they first submitted). It does not change.
  • Latest attribution: the most recent recorded interaction (for example, a later order form). It updates with each new session.

Configure without attribution tracking

  1. Add the action.
  2. Pick the affiliate campaign. The affiliate dropdown will then show only affiliates added to that campaign.
  3. Choose the affiliate manually.
  4. Enter the revenue, optional event date, and event ID.
  5. Save.

Example: pay commission on form submission

An affiliate shares a campaign form link with leads.

  • Trigger: Form Submitted (the form belongs to the affiliate campaign).
  • Action: Add Manual Sales for an Affiliate with Auto-Track Affiliate via Attribution on.
  • Outcome: When a valid affiliate-tagged lead submits the form, Sparkforge maps the lead to the affiliate and posts the commission. No branching per affiliate required.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the commission actually calculate?
As soon as the workflow runs the action. Sparkforge applies the campaign's default commission settings to the revenue you logged.
Do I need separate workflow branches for each affiliate?
No. With Auto-Track Affiliate via Attribution on, Sparkforge reads the affiliate ID from the contact's URL and routes commission automatically.
What's the difference between First and Latest attribution?
First is the contact's original recorded interaction and never changes. Latest is the most recent interaction and updates each session.
Can I record an event date and reference ID?
Yes. Both fields are optional but useful for reconciliation against external order systems.
What happens if a contact has no affiliate ID in their URL?
With auto-attribution on, no commission is recorded. Use the manual configuration if you need to assign the sale yourself.
