Fix the "Payment Failed" Error During WhatsApp Integration

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

If a sub-account sees "Payment Failed" during WhatsApp integration, the issue is at the agency level — not the sub-account. Retry the failed invoice in agency Settings > Billing > Payments > Invoices, then redo the integration.

WhatsApp subscriptions for sub-accounts are billed through the agency's payment method. If that payment fails, every sub-account in the agency hits a Payment Failed wall when they try to integrate WhatsApp — regardless of the sub-account's own billing status.

Why this happens

The error isn't about the sub-account. Sparkforge passes WhatsApp billing up to the agency level, so any failed invoice on the agency account blocks WhatsApp activation across the board.

How to fix it

  1. Open the agency dashboard.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Billing.
  4. Open the Payments tab.
  5. Click Invoices.
  6. Find the failed invoice and click Retry Payment.

Once the invoice clears, the sub-account can complete the WhatsApp integration without further action.

What the sub-account needs to do

Nothing on the sub-account side. The integration retry happens at the agency, and the sub-account picks up where it left off after the agency invoice succeeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the sub-account see "Payment Failed" when integrating WhatsApp?
WhatsApp subscriptions are billed through the agency's payment method. A failed agency invoice blocks the integration for every sub-account, even if the sub-account's own billing is current.
How do I retry the failed payment?
From the agency dashboard, open Settings > Billing > Payments > Invoices, find the failed invoice, and click Retry Payment.
Do I need to change anything on the sub-account?
No. The sub-account requires no action. Once the agency invoice clears, the sub-account can complete the WhatsApp integration normally.
What if the retry keeps failing?
Update the agency's payment method under Settings > Billing first, then retry the invoice. Persistent failures usually mean an expired card or a bank decline.
