Change your WhatsApp Business display name through Meta WhatsApp Manager (or contact Direct Support if you have an Official Business Account). Avoid emojis, slogans, and generic terms to prevent declines.

Your WhatsApp Business display name is what customers see when you message them. Meta reviews changes against strict policy, and getting it right the first time prevents repeated declines.

Before you start

You have a business portfolio created in Meta Business Manager.
You signed up for the WhatsApp Business Platform through a Business Solution Provider (BSP) or as a BSP yourself.
A phone number is connected to your WhatsApp Business account.
Your business qualifies for a display name review.

Change the display name in WhatsApp Manager

Open Meta Business Manager and select your business.
Click WhatsApp Manager.
Select the WhatsApp account you want to update.
Click Phone Numbers in the left menu.
Hover over the current display name and click the pencil icon.
Enter the new display name in the Edit Display Name field.
Click Next to submit for review.

Official Business Accounts (OBA)

OBA accounts can't change display names through self-serve. Contact Direct Support to request the change.

What happens after submission

If your business is not verified, the new display name is confirmed immediately and the certificate is available for download.

If your business is verified, the display name shows a Pending Review label under Certificate in the Phone Numbers section. Once approved, a View button appears so you can download the certificate.

Update registration after approval

The registration step depends on which API you use:

Cloud API: Register the number using the Registration endpoint. No certificate needed.
On-Premises API: Register the new display name using the Account endpoint.

Avoid these common decline triggers

If your brand is one word, don't add spaces.
No emojis, slogans, stylized symbols, or unnecessary capitalization.
Stay tied to your verified business identity — don't include words like Official or Verified.
Don't include Meta product names (WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger).
Don't use generic terms (Fashion) or geographic-only names (New York).

For a legal name like Owner Connector Solutions Ltd:

Acceptable: Owner Connector or OwnerConnector Solutions
Declined: OwnerConnector Official

Limits to know

You can change the display name up to 10 times in 30 days. After that the cycle resets.
The new display name certificate is valid for 14 days. If it expires before you register, you have to resubmit.
A display name review is no longer required to start using the platform — only if you want the name shown instead of the phone number.
