Deleting a Contact Linked to a Sparkforge Community Group

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Deleting a Sparkforge contact who's a community group member permanently removes them from the community. If they own a group or location, they cannot be deleted until ownership is reassigned.

How a contact behaves on deletion depends on whether they're a regular member or an owner inside a community.

If the contact is a group member

Deletion is permanent. The contact loses all access to the community: posts, updates, discussions, and the ability to interact. There is no undo.

If the contact owns a group or location

Owners cannot be deleted. Sparkforge blocks the delete to preserve continuity of any group or location they're responsible for. To remove an owner, reassign ownership first, then delete.

How to identify owners, members, and admins

  1. Sign in to the community. The owner is shown in the community profile.
  2. Click the Members tab on the community page to see the full member list.
  3. Inside Members, click Admins to filter to admins only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I undo a contact deletion from a community?
No. Once the contact is deleted, the removal from the community is permanent. They lose all access to posts and discussions.
Why won't Sparkforge let me delete a specific contact?
They likely own a community group or location. Reassign ownership to another contact, then retry the deletion.
Where do I see who owns a community?
Sign in to the community. The owner appears at the top of the community profile.
Does deleting a contact remove their posts from the community?
It removes their access. Reassigning ownership before deletion is the cleanest path if you want to preserve their posts under a new owner.
