Manage Members Inside Sparkforge Community Groups
Manage Sparkforge Community group members through roles (Owner, Admin, Channel Manager, Contributor), invite by link or email, approve or decline join requests, and remove or ban members from the Members tab.
Member management keeps a Sparkforge Community organized and safe as it grows. This covers roles and permissions, invite flows, approvals, and how to remove or ban members.
Roles and Permissions
Pick the right role up front — it’s easier than rolling back access later. A group can be deactivated but not deleted.
| Role | Create Posts | Moderate Posts | Manage Members | Deactivate Group |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Owner | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Admin | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Channel Manager | Yes | Yes (channel) | Yes (channel) | No |
| Contributor | Yes | No | No | No |
- Owner — full control, including deactivating the group.
- Admin — manages members and content; can’t deactivate.
- Channel Manager — moderates a specific channel only.
- Contributor — participates based on group privacy and channel access.
Invite by Link
- Open Memberships > Communities > Groups.
- Log into the group.
- Click Invite Members.
- Copy the invite link and share via email, SMS, WhatsApp, or wherever fits.
Invite by Email
- Open Memberships > Communities > Groups.
- Log into the group.
- Click Invite Members.
- Under Email Invite, enter the recipient’s name and email.
- Toggle Administrative Privileges on or off.
- Click Send Invite.
Public vs. Private Groups
- Public — anyone can see posts and members. Anyone can join immediately. No approval required.
- Private — only members see posts and other members. Every join attempt requires manual review, including invite-link joins.
Approve or decline requests via Members > Requested > ⋯ > Request > Approve or Decline.
Change a Member’s Role
- Open Members > Contributors.
- Find the member, click ⋯.
- Pick Admin or Contributor (options depend on group config and your permissions).
Remove or Ban
Removing a member just takes them out of the group — they can request to rejoin. Banning blocks them from rejoining.
- Open Members, find the member.
- Click ⋯.
- Click Ban or Remove from Group.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I invite a large list at once?
Send a mass email or SMS campaign that includes the group invite URL. Recipients click the link to join.
Can members invite other people?
Yes, if you enable it. Open Group Settings and toggle Allow members to invite new members. When off, the invite button is hidden from non-admins.
Can I resend an invitation?
Yes. Resend the group URL or the invitation email — there’s no separate resend flow needed.
What’s the difference between removing and banning?
Remove takes the person out of the group but lets them request to rejoin later. Ban blocks them permanently.
Who can deactivate a group?
Only the Owner. Admins can’t deactivate — this prevents accidental or unauthorized shutdowns.
