How to Add a Profile Picture to a Sparkforge Contact
Profile pictures are uploaded only when a contact is created (max 2.5MB, 512x512px). They appear in Smart Lists and the Conversations inbox. To change one later, create a new contact with the updated image and merge.
Profile pictures attach a face or logo to a contact record. They show in the Contacts Smart List and the Conversations inbox sidebar — useful when scanning leads or distinguishing duplicates at a glance. The catch: pictures can only be added when the contact is first created. To change one later, create a new contact with the updated image and merge it with the original.
Where profile pictures appear
- Contacts Smart List — next to the contact name in the list view.
- Conversations inbox — in the left-hand list and the right-side contact panel. The middle conversation pane does not show the picture.
They do not currently appear inside the full contact profile record, and the API does not yet support setting a profile picture.
Add a profile picture to a new contact
- Open Contacts in the left-hand nav.
- Click the + button to add a new contact.
- In the contact creation window, click the image area labeled Personal Logo.
- Upload an image. Max size 2.5MB; recommended dimensions 512x512 pixels.
- Fill in the contact details and click Save.
The picture will appear next to the contact in Smart Lists and the Conversations inbox.
Update the picture on an existing contact
The platform does not yet allow editing the picture on an existing contact. Workaround:
- Create a new contact and upload the desired picture during creation.
- Open Contacts, find both records, and merge them. The merge keeps the new picture and combines the field history.
Current limitations
- No way to add, change, or remove a profile picture after the contact is saved.
- Pictures do not show in the full contact profile tab.
- No drag-and-drop or built-in cropping — crop the image to 512x512 before uploading.
- Not yet exposed via the API.
Tips
- Crop and compress the image before upload. A clean 512x512 PNG or JPG keeps file size well under the 2.5MB cap and renders cleanly in every place it appears.
- For B2B contacts, upload the company logo rather than a stock avatar — it makes the inbox scannable.
- If you import contacts in bulk, decide whether profile pictures are worth a manual pass. They cannot be set via import or API today.
