How to Upgrade and Cancel Sparkforge SaaS Plans for Sub-Account Clients

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Toggle two checkboxes in the SaaS configurator to let sub-account clients self-serve plan upgrades and cancellations. To change a plan manually, edit the customer's subscription in Stripe and refresh feature access. Always reconcile wallet credits before disabling SaaS.

Sparkforge SaaS Mode lets you resell sub-accounts and manage their plans. Clients can self-serve upgrades and cancellations, or you can change plans manually through Stripe. This article covers both paths plus a clean process for closing out a SaaS sub-account.

Let clients upgrade their own SaaS plan

Upgrades are controlled by the Agency SaaS Configurator. Enable the global toggle, or override it for a single sub-account.

Enable upgrades for all SaaS clients

  1. Open the Agency SaaS Configurator.
  2. Check Allow clients (sub-accounts) to upgrade to a higher plan.
  3. Save. The setting applies to every sub-account created from this configurator going forward.

From the client's view, a Modify Subscription button appears under Account Settings > Company Billing. They pick a higher tier, choose monthly or annual, and click Confirm & Pay. You then enable the new plan's features in their account.

Override per sub-account

  1. Agency Sidebar > Sub-Accounts.
  2. Find the client and click their name or Manage Client.
  3. Scroll to Subscription Details and check Allow them to upgrade.

This setting applies only to that sub-account and won't affect future SaaS sub-accounts.

Change a SaaS plan from your end (via Stripe)

Suppose you have three plans — Standard, Professional, and Premium — and you need to upgrade a client from Standard to Professional. The plan switch happens in Stripe; feature access is updated in the agency view.

Find the Stripe customer

  1. Open Sub-Account Settings > Company Billing and click View on any invoice in Billing History.
  2. Copy the invoice number.
  3. In Stripe, search the invoice number and open the invoice.
  4. Click the customer email under Billed to. You're now on the customer profile.

Update the subscription

  1. Click the pencil icon to edit the subscription.
  2. Remove the current price and add the new plan's price.
  3. Review changes. Prorate if you want the difference applied on the next invoice. Click Update.
  4. Back in Sparkforge, go to Accounts > View Details for the location.
  5. Update the feature set to match the new plan and save.

The plan and feature access are now in sync. If you skip step 5, the client gets billed for the new plan but still sees the old feature set.

Let clients cancel their own subscription

Cancellation is off by default — most agencies want a chance to save the account first. Turn it on if you'd rather skip the retention conversation.

  1. In the SaaS Configurator, check Allow clients (sub-accounts) to cancel their subscriptions.
  2. Save. Or apply the same setting per sub-account from Manage Client.

Clients see Cancel next to Modify Subscription. After confirming, the sub-account is locked until reactivated. Clients can reactivate or change payment methods themselves.

Cancel a SaaS sub-account yourself

Order matters. Skipping a step can leave Twilio or Mailgun sub-accounts open and accruing charges.

1. Reconcile the SaaS wallet

Refund any non-complimentary wallet credits in Stripe before disabling SaaS. Check credit type at Sub-Account Settings > Company Billing > See Details (Transaction History).

2. Disable SaaS on the sub-account

Go to Agency View > Accounts > View Details and disable SaaS. Cancel the Stripe subscription if you no longer want to bill them.

Export transaction details first. Once SaaS is disabled, all transaction and wallet history is removed.

3. Close Twilio and Mailgun sub-accounts

If Twilio or Mailgun rebilling was on, those sub-accounts stay connected in Agency Settings > Twilio / Mailgun after SaaS is disabled. Delete the connections and close the sub-accounts.

4. Remove the user or delete the sub-account

If you want to keep the client's data, remove the user from Agency Settings > Team. If not, delete the sub-account from Accounts > View Details.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do clients upgrade their SaaS plan themselves?
After you enable the upgrade toggle in the SaaS Configurator, clients see a Modify Subscription button under Account Settings > Company Billing. They pick a higher tier, choose monthly or annual, and pay through Stripe.
Why didn't my client's features update after a plan change in Stripe?
Plan changes in Stripe only update billing. You still need to update the feature set in Accounts > View Details on the agency side to match the new plan.
Can I refund wallet credits after disabling SaaS?
No. Disabling SaaS wipes all transaction and wallet history. Refund non-complimentary credits in Stripe and export your transaction log before you turn SaaS off.
What happens to Twilio and Mailgun when I cancel a SaaS sub-account?
They stay connected even after SaaS is disabled. Open Agency Settings > Twilio / Mailgun and close those sub-accounts manually, or charges keep accruing.
Can a client reactivate a canceled subscription?
Yes. Canceled clients see a reactivate button when they try to access the account, along with the option to change payment methods.
