How to Pair WisePOS E and Stripe S700 Readers in Mobile POS
Stripe's WisePOS E and S700 internet readers pair with the Sparkforge mobile app over Wi-Fi for card-present payments. Generate a pairing code, register the reader in Settings, and check out customers from any iOS or Android device.
Stripe WisePOS E and S700 are Wi-Fi internet readers that pair directly with your phone or tablet. Once paired with the Sparkforge mobile app, every tap, insert, or swipe runs through Stripe's PCI-certified infrastructure. No dongles, no cables, no browser tab.
Why use internet readers with mobile POS
- All-in-one hardware: chip, tap, and magnetic-stripe accepted out of the box.
- Faster lines: customer-facing prompts cut cashier time.
- Unlimited readers per location: register as many devices as you need; each one shows in the Payment Instruments list.
- Unified reporting: in-person and online sales land in the same Sparkforge Payments dashboard.
- Automatic compliance: firmware updates ship card-scheme requirements with no manual work.
Prerequisites
- A live Stripe account connected under Payments > Integrations.
- Mobile device and reader on the same 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Mobile-app version v3.103.4 or later.
- Device enrolled in the Sparkforge mobile app via the App Store or Google Play.
How to register a WisePOS E or S700 reader
Step 1: get a pairing code from the reader
- Power on the reader.
- On the idle screen, tap Generate Pairing Code. A six-digit code appears.
Step 2: open Internet Reader settings
- Open the mobile app and pick the correct sub-account.
- Go to Settings > Stripe Payment Hardware > Pair New Devices > Internet Readers.
Step 3: pair the device
- Enter a reader name you will recognize at checkout (for example, FrontCounter_WisePOS1).
- Type the pairing code shown on the reader.
- Tap Pair. Look for the toast "FrontCounter_WisePOS1 registered successfully."
Step 4: repeat for additional readers
Run the same steps for every other reader on the network. Each one registers under its own name in Payment Instruments.
Take a payment with a registered reader
- Start a sale in the POS and add items to the cart.
- On Payment Instruments, choose the reader you want to use.
- Hand the reader to the customer. They tap, insert, or swipe. A 5-minute timer counts down on the mobile screen.
- Wait for confirmation. The reader displays "Approved" and the sale lands in Transaction History.
Troubleshooting
- Pairing fails: confirm both devices share the same Wi-Fi network and that the code has not expired (regenerate if needed).
- Reader offline: reboot the reader, then refresh the Payment Instruments list.
- Approval timeout: the 5-minute window expired. Restart the sale and present the reader again.
- Firmware nag screens: let the firmware update finish before taking another payment — newer card-scheme rules require it.

Yes. Reader and mobile device must share the same 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network for pairing and transactions to succeed.
