How to Set Up Drip Mode for Bulk Actions in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Drip Mode sends bulk SMS, email, tag changes, and workflow steps in timed batches instead of all at once. The new engine handles schedules longer than 30 days, recovers from disconnects, and works the same across every bulk action type.

Drip Mode paces high-volume outreach by spacing bulk actions into batches. The September 2025 release moves every Drip Mode bulk action onto a single configuration-driven engine, so SMS, email, contact updates, and workflow steps all behave the same way.

What Drip Mode does

Instead of firing all at once, Drip Mode sends in repeatable intervals (minutes, hours, or days). That avoids carrier throttling, protects sender reputation, and keeps servers responsive.

What's new in the engine

  • Handles long sequences efficiently — even hundreds of thousands of contacts.
  • Improved checkpointing prevents actions from getting stuck mid-send.
  • Schedules beyond 30 days — no more 720-hour cap.
  • Reusable, config-driven core means SMS, email, and workflow drips behave identically.
  • Less duplicated code means faster fixes and improvements.

Checkpointing and automatic recovery

Progress is recorded after every batch. If the sub-account disconnects, the phone pool rotates, or the app restarts, the engine resumes from the last completed batch — no manual restarts and no double-sends.

Schedules longer than 30 days

Previous Bulk Actions topped out at 720 hours (~30 days). The new engine accepts any future date, so eight-week courses, 12-week challenges, semester nurture series, and recurring donation campaigns work without splitting into multiple drips.

Configuration parameters

  • Start On: first batch date and time.
  • Batch Quantity: contacts per run (1–10,000).
  • Repeat After: interval (minutes, hours, days).
  • Send On: which days of the week to run.
  • Process Between: allowable send hours (account time-zone).
  • End At: daily cutoff time.

Where Drip Mode applies

  • Bulk SMS & MMS
  • Bulk Email
  • Add/Remove Contact Tags
  • Add to Workflow / Campaign
  • Opportunity updates (status, pipeline, owner)
  • Custom Action — Drip steps inside Workflows

How to set up Drip Mode

  1. Navigate to Contacts. This is where you define the action and its pacing.
  2. Choose the action type: Send SMS, Send Email, Add Tag, etc.
  3. Select your audience: a SmartList or manually picked contacts.
  4. Set the delivery method to Send in Drip Mode.
  5. Configure pacing: Start On, Batch Quantity, Repeat After, Send On, Process Between, End At.
  6. Add a description like "Drip SMS — July Webinar Invite" so the campaign is easy to spot in reports.
  7. Review the estimated duration the system calculates from your inputs.

Operational tips

  • Use Process Between to confine sends to business hours and respect quiet hours.
  • Start with smaller batches when warming up a new number or sender domain.
  • Pause from Contacts → Bulk Actions → ... menu → Pause; resume picks up at the last checkpoint.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will existing drip actions use the new engine automatically?
Yes. Queued and paused actions migrate seamlessly — no manual changes required.
What if I change the batch size after a drip has started?
Edits are supported. The next unprocessed batch honors the new quantity; already-sent batches stay as is.
Is there a maximum total duration?
No hard limit. Campaigns can drip for months or years on the new scheduler.
Can I pause and resume a drip campaign?
Yes. Pause from Contacts → Bulk Actions, then resume; the engine continues from the last checkpoint.
Do rate limits still apply?
Carrier and platform safety limits remain (for example, 1,000 SMS per minute at a 1-minute interval). The engine just enforces them more consistently.
Does Drip Mode respect quiet hours and DND?
Yes. Messages outside the Process Between window or to DND contacts are deferred to the next valid batch.
