How to Bulk Add Tags to Contacts in Sparkforge
Select contacts on the Contacts tab, click the Add Tag icon, name the action, pick the tags, and run. Tags are appended (not overwritten) and can trigger workflow automations.
Bulk tagging is the fastest way to label, segment, and route contacts in Sparkforge. Tags drive workflow triggers, list filters, and reporting, so getting the right tags on the right records keeps automation reliable.
When to use bulk tagging
- Mark a batch of leads with a lifecycle stage (e.g.
nurture, sql). - Flag contacts for a campaign or audience segment.
- Trigger a workflow that fires on tag-add or tag-remove.
- Clean up legacy contact records during a migration.
Apply tags to multiple contacts
- Open Contacts from the left navigation.
- Use the checkboxes to select the contacts to tag. Selection works across pages and filters.
- Click the Add Tag icon in the action bar at the top of the list.
- In the Add Tags dialog, enter an Action Name (this shows in the Bulk Actions log).
- Open the Tags dropdown and pick one or more tags.
- Click Add Tags. A confirmation appears.
Track progress
From the confirmation popup, click Check Progress to jump to the Bulk Actions tab. Each bulk run logs the action name, who ran it, when it ran, and a Show Stats link with per-contact success or failure.
Behavior to know
- Tags are appended — existing tags on the contact are not removed.
- You can apply multiple tags in a single action.
- To remove tags, use the Remove Tag bulk action instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply more than one tag at a time?
Yes. Add every tag you want to the Tags field before submitting and they all apply in one bulk action.
Will bulk tagging overwrite tags that are already on the contact?
No. Bulk add only appends the selected tags. Existing tags stay in place.
Can a tag trigger a workflow?
Yes. Tag-added and tag-removed are common workflow triggers, so bulk tagging is a clean way to fire automations across a segment.
How do I undo a bulk tag run?
Use the Remove Tag bulk action to strip specific tags or clear all tags from selected contacts.
Where do I confirm which contacts were tagged?
Open the Bulk Actions tab and click Show Stats next to the action. You'll see per-contact status and timestamps.
