By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Filter contacts on the Contacts page in Sparkforge, select them, then use Add to Automation to enroll the batch into any published workflow immediately, at a scheduled time, or in drip batches.

The Add to Automation feature in Sparkforge enrolls a filtered batch of contacts into a published workflow without waiting for a trigger. Filter, select, and push.

Step 1: Filter your contacts

  1. Go to Contacts > SmartLists.
  2. Click Advanced Filters to open the filter panel.
  3. To filter by tag, search for Tag in the filter bar and select it.
  4. Set the operator (e.g., Is) and choose the tag value.
  5. Click Apply. The list now shows only matching contacts.

You can also filter by email, city, contact source, opportunity stage, custom fields, or any combination, including nested filters.

Step 2: Select and trigger automation

  1. Select contacts using checkboxes, or click Select all.
  2. From the bulk action toolbar, click Trigger automation.

The Add to Automation dialog opens with the selected contacts at the top.

Step 3: Configure the automation

  • Action Name: a label for the bulk action, used in the tracking report.
  • Automation Type: select Workflow.
  • Workflow: pick from the list of published workflows.
  • Mode: choose how contacts are enrolled (see below).

Click Add to Automation. A confirmation appears with the contact count. Click Check Progress to jump to the Bulk Actions page or Dismiss to keep working.

Scheduling modes

Send All at Once

All selected contacts enter the workflow immediately. Default mode.

Send at Scheduled Time

All selected contacts enter the workflow at a date and time you pick, in your account's timezone. Useful for aligning with a campaign launch or business hours.

Send in Drip Mode

Contacts enter in batches at a set interval. Use this for large lists or when you want to spread out sends.

  • Pick a Start Date & Time: when the first batch enrolls.
  • Number of Messages per Batch: how many contacts per batch.
  • Repeat after: the interval between batches in days, hours, or minutes.

Tracking progress

Go to Contacts > Bulk Actions to see all bulk action requests. The page shows:

  • Action Label
  • Operation (e.g., Workflow)
  • Status (In Progress, Scheduled, Complete)
  • User who started it
  • Created and Completed timestamps in your timezone
  • Statistics for a detailed breakdown

Filter by date range, status, action type, or user to find a specific request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I filter by fields other than tags?
Yes. Advanced Filters supports any contact field including email, city, source, created date, opportunity stage, and custom fields, plus combined and nested filter logic.
Does the workflow need to be published?
Yes. Only published workflows show in the Workflow dropdown. Publish before running the bulk action.
What's the difference between Scheduled Time and Drip Mode?
Scheduled Time enrolls every selected contact at one chosen moment. Drip Mode staggers enrollment in batches at a set interval to spread out sends.
Where do I track bulk action progress?
Open Contacts > Bulk Actions. You'll see status, timestamps, and a statistics breakdown for every request.
Can I save a Smart List for repeat enrollments?
Yes. Save the filtered view as a Smart List, then reopen it whenever you need to enroll the same segment again.
