How to Enable Card Auth on Sparkforge SaaS Checkout Pages
Open the funnel step containing your SaaS product, go to the Products tab, and enable card authorization. The card is validated for sufficient funds, then the payment intent is refunded immediately so the buyer is not charged.
If you run SaaS Mode on Sparkforge, free trials and low-friction signups also attract bad actors. Card authorization weeds them out by validating the card before creating a subscription, without actually charging real customers.
Identify Your Funnel Version
Card auth steps are slightly different between Version 1 and Version 2 funnels.
- Go to Sites > Funnels in the location view.
- Look for the v2 tag next to the funnel name. V2 funnels are tagged; V1 funnels have no tag.
Card Auth on V1 Funnels
- Open the funnel step that contains your SaaS product.
- Open the Products tab.
- Enable card authorization.
Card Auth on V2 Funnels
- Open the funnel step that contains your SaaS product.
- Open the Products tab.
- Enable card authorization.
How Card Authorization Works
Card auth creates a payment intent on the buyer's card to validate that it is real and has sufficient balance, then refunds the intent immediately before the charge settles. It is especially useful when you offer a free trial — only buyers with valid cards proceed.
Will My Clients Get Charged?
No. The payment intent is refunded before the charge settles. Card auth is purely a verification step; nothing posts to the cardholder's statement.
