How to Pause and Resume Sub-Accounts in Sparkforge
Agency admins can pause SaaS sub-accounts automatically on subscription failure or pause any sub-account manually. Workflows draft on pause; everything else keeps running. Clients see a payment or contact prompt and can self-resume by paying.
If a SaaS client stops paying, you can pause their sub-account so they lose access until the bill is current. Regular (non-SaaS) clients can be paused manually at any time. Only agency admins can pause or resume.
Automatic pause on subscription failure (SaaS only)
Toggle automatic pause from Agency Sidebar > SAAS Configurator > Suspend Sub-Accounts when their SAAS subscription fails.
What counts as a subscription failure?
A subscription is considered failed when the Stripe status is canceled, past_due, incomplete, or incomplete_expired.
Manual pause (SaaS or regular)
- Open Sub-Accounts from the agency sidebar.
- Find the account, click the three dots on the right, and choose Manage Client.
- Open the Actions dropdown and click Pause Sub-Account.
- Check the confirmation box and confirm.
The pause takes effect within seconds. A banner inside the sub-account confirms the paused state.
What clients see when paused
Client Portal access is blocked while a sub-account is paused. After you resume, Client Portal access returns automatically.
SaaS client with a failed subscription
- The client sees a screen to reactivate their SaaS subscription.
- Sub-account users cannot add or change payment methods — only sub-account admins can.
- When billing is fixed, the sub-account resumes automatically.
Regular client or SaaS client without a failed subscription
The client sees a screen prompting them to contact you. Your contact info comes from Agency > Settings > Company.
Resume a sub-account
- Go to Agency Sidebar > Sub-Accounts.
- Open the paused account, click the three dots, and choose Manage Client.
- From the Actions dropdown, click Resume Sub-Account and confirm.
What pauses, what keeps running
All workflows in the sub-account drop to draft status when paused. Once you resume, those workflows need to be re-published before they fire again.
Everything else — calendars, messaging, automations outside workflows — keeps working as normal. The only visible change for the client is the reactivation or contact-us prompt.
