How to Move US Numbers from Twilio to Sparkforge Phone

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Get the Gaining Sub-account SID from Sparkforge Support, then open a Twilio ticket with the losing and gaining sub-account SIDs and the numbers to move. CC migration@sparkforgehq.com so Sparkforge can coordinate the cutover.

Move US local or toll-free numbers out of a Twilio account and into a Sparkforge Phone sub-account. The number lives natively inside Sparkforge afterward, so SMS, voice, call tracking, and automation all work without a separate Twilio integration.

Before you start

  • You have owner-level access to the client's Twilio account.
  • You know the Location ID of the destination Sparkforge sub-account.
  • You have submitted a request to Sparkforge Support to receive the Gaining Sub-account SID (the Sparkforge Phone Twilio sub-account SID for that location).
  • For international numbers, regulatory bundles and addresses are already approved in Twilio.

Note: This article covers US local and toll-free numbers only. For international numbers, see the international migration guide.

Why move numbers into Sparkforge Phone

  • Centralizes communication inside Sparkforge.
  • Enables call tracking, automation, and SMS workflows natively.
  • Simplifies billing and number management.
  • Faster troubleshooting through Sparkforge Phone infrastructure.

What is Sparkforge Phone

Sparkforge Phone is the platform's built-in phone system, operating through a Twilio ISV connection. Once a number lives inside Sparkforge Phone, it is fully managed in-platform with no separate Twilio integration to maintain.

Step 1: Get the Gaining Sub-account SID

  1. Open the destination Sparkforge sub-account.
  2. Note the Location ID.
  3. Submit a Sparkforge Support ticket requesting the Gaining Sub-account SID for that Location ID.

Step 2: Submit a ticket to Twilio

Once Sparkforge Support has provided the Gaining Sub-account SID, open a Twilio Support ticket from the client's Twilio account.

Sample Twilio ticket

Subject: Request to Move Phone Number(s) to New Sub-account

Priority: P3 - General

CC: migration@sparkforgehq.com

Message:

Hi Twilio Support, I would like to move the following phone numbers to a new sub-account: [paste numbers].

Losing sub-account SID: [your current Twilio sub-account SID].

Gaining sub-account SID: [SID provided by Sparkforge Support].

Time-frame: ASAP. This migration is essential for business continuity. Please process at your earliest convenience.

Twilio reviews the request and replies via email. If anything stalls, contact Sparkforge Support.

Final checklist

  • Only the Twilio account owner can authorize the migration.
  • For international numbers, complete regulatory bundles and addresses in Twilio first.
  • Average migration time is 24-72 hours, depending on Twilio processing.
  • Always CC migration@sparkforgehq.com on the Twilio ticket so Sparkforge can coordinate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will SMS workflows or call tracking be interrupted during the move?
There may be brief downtime during the cutover. Schedule the migration during low-traffic hours when possible.
Can I move numbers from multiple Twilio accounts into one Sparkforge Phone account?
Yes. Submit each migration separately and have the original Twilio account owner authorize each one.
What happens to billing after the migration?
The number bills through Sparkforge Phone, not through the client's personal Twilio account.
Can I follow this same process for international numbers?
No. This article covers US local and toll-free only. International numbers require the regulatory bundle SID and address SID and follow a separate migration guide.
How long does Twilio take to process the move?
Typically 24 to 72 hours. Sparkforge Support tracks the ticket and confirms when the number is live in your sub-account.
