How to Purchase a Phone Number in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Phone numbers are purchased inside each Sparkforge sub-account from Settings then Phone Systems. Pick country, capabilities (SMS, MMS, Voice), and number type, then complete the purchase. International numbers may require a regulatory bundle.

Phone numbers in Sparkforge enable inbound and outbound calls and SMS for the sub-account. Each sub-account manages its own numbers — they are not shared across the agency. This guide walks through the purchase flow and what to do when your preferred area code is unavailable.

Why Purchase a Sparkforge Number

  • Two-way comms: Inbound and outbound SMS and voice through the platform.
  • Local or toll-free presence: Match your area or use a national-feeling number.
  • Workflow integration: Connects to campaigns, pipelines, users, and automations.
  • Separation: Keeps business calls and texts off your personal line.
  • Automation: Powers workflows, voicemail, call routing, and call tracking.

Coverage and Availability

Sparkforge has coverage parity with Twilio for supported number types. Empty results mean the provider has no inventory matching your filters (country, type, capabilities). Availability shifts based on inventory and local regulations.

How to Purchase a Phone Number

Step 1: Open Phone Number Settings

In your sub-account, go to Settings (bottom-left) then Phone Systems.

If you're purchasing a +1 number in a Sparkforge Phone-managed sub-account that hasn't completed identity verification, you may be prompted to verify via Persona (government ID + live selfie). This is typically one-time per sub-account.

Step 2: Add a New Number

Click + Add Number (top-right) and choose Add Phone Number.

Step 3: Pick Country and Filters

Choose a country, then click Filters to narrow results by:

  • Digits or phrases (matched at the first, last, or any part of the number)
  • Capabilities (SMS, MMS, Voice)
  • Number type (Local or Toll-Free)

Step 4: Choose a Number

Review the list. Click Refresh Results if you don't like the options.

Step 5: Complete Purchase

Select the number and click Proceed to Buy.

International Phone Numbers

Most countries outside the USA and Canada require a Regulatory Bundle or Address before you can purchase a number. Add the required bundle before attempting the purchase.

Can't Find Your Preferred Area Code?

Why It Happens

CauseExplanation
Limited inventoryNumbers come from Twilio's pool, which fluctuates. If nothing is available in your area code, it won't appear.
High-demand area codesLegacy or dense urban codes (212, 310, 415) often have little to no availability.

Workarounds

  1. Try nearby or overlay codes — e.g., 424 for the Los Angeles 310 area.
  2. Use toll-free numbers (888, 877) when local presence isn't critical.
  3. Contact Sparkforge Support to request availability checks.
