How to Configure Human Handover in Conversation AI
Human Handover hands a Conversation AI chat off to a real teammate when the user asks for one, the AI lacks information, or the bot fails to resolve the issue. You configure scenarios, post-handover actions, and notifications.
Human Handover transitions a Conversation AI session from the bot to a human teammate. Useful when the AI hits its limits or the customer explicitly asks for a person.
What it does
- Detects when the bot should step aside
- Assigns the conversation to a teammate
- Creates a follow-up task on the contact
- Sends a closing message before handing off
- Pauses the bot for a configurable duration
- Tags the contact for reporting

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How many handover actions can a bot have?
A maximum of 3 handover actions per bot. Pick the scenarios that map to your business: human requested, lack of info, or failed to resolve.
What triggers Failed to Resolve Issue?
The bot tries up to 2 times to resolve the issue. After the second failure, the handover scenario fires.
Does the bot resume automatically after handover?
Yes, based on the Bot Pause Behaviour timer you set in days, hours, and minutes.
How do I make sure my team gets notified?
In each user's notification settings, enable conversation assigned to me and task assigned to me. Without these, the assigned user won't see the handoff.
