How to Verify Your Business on Meta
Open Security Centre in your Meta Business portfolio, enter your legal business info, match public records or upload a license, then verify ownership by email, phone, or DNS. Verification takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 14 working days.
Meta business verification confirms you control the company tied to your Facebook and Instagram presence. You only need it if you are using Meta APIs or developer features, or if Meta has notified you to verify.
Before you start
- Your business portfolio (formerly Business Manager) must be eligible.
- You must have full control of the portfolio.
- Submit accurate info — Meta can deny verification or restrict your account if details are misleading.
Verification steps
- Open the Security Centre in your Meta Business portfolio.
- Click Start verification. You may also see this entry point inside Meta Ads Manager, Commerce Manager, or the App Developer Dashboard.
- Enter your business details: legal name, address, phone number, and a live HTTPS website.
- Confirm the details. If Meta finds your business in public records, select it. If not, upload a business license or articles of incorporation.
- Verify your connection to the business using one of these methods: email on your domain, phone call, SMS, WhatsApp, or domain verification through your DNS or hosting provider.
- Click Done.
What happens next
- Decisions arrive in anywhere from 10 minutes to 14 working days.
- Meta notifies you when the review is complete.
- If approved, your business is verified.
- If you change business details later, you will need to verify again.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my business is not in the listed records?
Choose <em>My business is not listed</em> or <em>None of these match</em>, then upload a business license or articles of incorporation.
I did not receive the phone confirmation code. What now?
Request another code or follow Meta's troubleshooting guide. Try a different method like email or domain verification if SMS keeps failing.
Do I need documents if I am on monthly ad invoicing?
No. Submit your credit line info during verification. The credit line must be linked to your business, not a personal account.
Do I have to verify if I just run regular Facebook ads?
Not always. Verification is required for API access, certain developer features, and when Meta sends a verification notice. Otherwise it is optional.
What counts as domain verification?
Adding a TXT record or meta tag to your domain so Meta can confirm you control the website tied to your business.
