Connect a Sparkforge or Twilio Number to WhatsApp Business

You can register a WhatsApp Business Account against any Sparkforge or Twilio phone number you already own — there's no need to buy a separate WhatsApp-specific number. Meta sends a verification code to the number, either by SMS or by phone call.

What you need first

• A phone number purchased through Sparkforge.
• Call forwarding set up if the number is voice-only — Meta sends the OTP via call in that case.
• An agency Stripe account connected if you want to resell WhatsApp to sub-accounts.
• A Facebook account and Meta Business Account.

Buy a Sparkforge phone number

1. Go to Settings > Phone Numbers.
2. Click Add Number, pick a number, and click Proceed to Buy.
3. Configure Call Forwarding to a personal number you can answer. This is required for voice-only numbers because Meta will phone the number with the verification code.

Connect Stripe and enable reselling (agency-side)

To resell WhatsApp at a markup, connect your agency Stripe account so subscription payments flow from sub-accounts to you. Without Stripe, you can still use Direct Deploy, but the subscription bills your agency card on file and reselling is off the table.

Under Agency Settings > Reselling, you can:

• Offer WhatsApp as a paid service to your sub-accounts.
• Set custom pricing and capture margin per subscription.

Register the number with WhatsApp

1. Go to Settings > WhatsApp > Buy WhatsApp.
2. Click Signup with Facebook and log into the Facebook account tied to your Meta Business Manager.
3. Click Get Started to begin creating your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).
4. Fill in your business info: business portfolio, business name, website or profile link, country.
5. Create a new WABA or pick an existing one.
6. Set up your WhatsApp Business Profile: account name, display name, and category.
7. Enter your Sparkforge or Twilio number and pick a verification method. Use Phone Call for voice-only numbers (call forwarding must be on first). Use SMS for SMS-capable numbers — the OTP lands in Conversations in the Sparkforge app.
8. Enter the verification code.
9. Review and accept the permissions Sparkforge requests to manage the WABA.

Setup is complete. You can now send and receive WhatsApp messages from Conversations.

Tip on personal WhatsApp accounts

If your Sparkforge number is already linked to a personal WhatsApp on your phone, delete the personal account first: open WhatsApp on your phone, then Settings > Account > Delete my account. Personal chat history is not migrated to the Business Account.
