How to Set Up WhatsApp for a Sparkforge Sub-Account

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge supports three WhatsApp connection paths: keep using your existing WhatsApp Business App alongside Sparkforge (Coexistence), register a brand-new number, or migrate from another Business Solution Provider. All start at Settings > WhatsApp.

You can connect WhatsApp Business to Sparkforge three ways depending on where you're starting from. All paths begin at Settings > WhatsApp in your sub-account.

Method 1: Connect your existing WhatsApp Business App (Coexistence)

Use this if you want to keep using the WhatsApp Business app on your phone alongside Sparkforge.

Not supported in Nigeria or South Africa. You can also only have one phone number under Coexistence.

  1. Settings > WhatsApp and click Connect your WhatsApp.
  2. Follow the on-screen registration prompts.
  3. Click Continue to start the integration.
  4. Choose Connect a WhatsApp Business App and click Next.
  5. Enter your WhatsApp Business phone number.
  6. Review your business details and correct anything wrong.
  7. Update the WhatsApp Business app to the latest version, then look for the message from the official Facebook Business account and scan the QR code to import contacts and up to six months of chat history.
  8. Scan the second QR code to complete the connection. You can keep using the WhatsApp Business app alongside Sparkforge.
  9. Confirm details and click Finish.

Coexistence limitations

  • Template messages can only be sent from Sparkforge, not the WhatsApp Business app.
  • WhatsApp profile management stays in the WhatsApp Business app, not Sparkforge.
  • Maximum one phone number per sub-account under Coexistence.

Method 2: Connect a new WhatsApp Business number

Use this if you don't already have a WhatsApp Business account and want to start fresh.

  1. Settings > WhatsApp and click Create a new WhatsApp business account.
  2. Click Continue with Facebook and log in with the Facebook account tied to your business.
  3. Click Continue to start setup.
  4. Fill in business details, select Create WhatsApp Business Account, and click Next.
  5. Enter the phone number you want to register. It must be active and accessible for verification.
  6. Enter the OTP sent by SMS or voice call and click Next.
  7. Review details and click Confirm.

Your WhatsApp Business account is now active in Sparkforge.

Method 3: Migrate from another Business Solution Provider (BSP)

Use this if you currently use a different BSP (Twilio, MessageBird, etc.) and want to move to Sparkforge.

  1. Settings > WhatsApp and click Migrating from an existing BSP.
  2. Click Continue to start migration.
  3. Select the business assets to migrate. Pick the right WhatsApp Business Account and the assets attached to it.
  4. Fill in business details and click Next.
  5. Enter the phone number you're migrating. Make sure it's active for verification.
  6. Click Next to receive the verification code.
  7. Enter the OTP from SMS or voice call and click Next.
  8. Review and click Confirm to complete the migration.

Your number now lives in Sparkforge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep using my WhatsApp Business app after connecting it to Sparkforge?
Yes. Coexistence mode lets you keep the app on your phone and use Sparkforge at the same time, but you're capped at one phone number and template messages must be sent from Sparkforge.
Is Coexistence available in every country?
No. WhatsApp does not support Coexistence for phone numbers from Nigeria or South Africa. Use Method 2 (new number) or Method 3 (BSP migration) instead.
Will my chat history transfer when I connect my existing WhatsApp Business app?
Up to six months of chat history and your contacts can be imported during Coexistence setup. Update your WhatsApp Business app to the latest version before the import step.
Do I need a Facebook account to connect WhatsApp?
Yes. WhatsApp Business is owned by Meta, so registering a new number or migrating from another BSP both require logging in with the Facebook account tied to your business.
