Fix the "ZIP Code Check Failed for Your Card" Banner in Sparkforge
The banner means the ZIP code on your saved Sparkforge payment method doesn't match the ZIP your bank has on file. Add a new card with the correct billing ZIP and the error clears.
When you add a payment method, Sparkforge passes the ZIP code to our payment processor for an Address Verification Service (AVS) check. If the ZIP doesn't match what your bank has on file for that card, the processor rejects the verification and you see the ZIP Code Check Failed for Your Card banner. This is a fraud-prevention safeguard, not a Sparkforge-side block.
Why the banner appears
The ZIP that matters here is the one tied to your card at the issuing bank — usually the address on your bank statement. It is not the billing address ZIP you might have stored elsewhere in your profile. A typo, an old ZIP from a recent move, or a mismatch with your bank's records all trigger the same error.
How to update the ZIP and clear the banner
- Open Billing from your account settings.
- Click the Payment tab, then the edit icon next to the payment method.
- Click Add New Card.
- Enter the same card number and the ZIP that matches your bank statement. If only the ZIP changed, the new card replaces the existing one.
- Save. The banner clears once verification passes.
If the error persists
If you've confirmed the ZIP matches your bank statement and the banner still shows, open a support ticket. Include a snippet of your bank statement showing the last four digits of the card and the ZIP — you don't need to share the full statement. Sparkforge will escalate to the payment processor for manual validation.
