How to Modify a SaaS Plan's Category and Plan Level
Move a Sparkforge SaaS plan to a new category or change its hierarchy position from SaaS Configurator → Plans → Edit. Existing customers stay on their current plan, but upgrade and downgrade paths update.
You can reorganize SaaS plans by changing their category or plan level. The Configurator handles inheritance automatically, but the change affects upgrade and downgrade paths for new sign-ups.
Step 1: Open the Plan
- Go to SaaS Configurator → Plans.
- Select the plan you want to edit.
Step 2: Update Category and Plan Level
- Under Category Settings, click Edit.
- To move to a new category, pick one from the dropdown. Only same-currency categories are listed.
- To change the plan level, adjust the hierarchy position inside the category.
- Confirm your selection.
Step 3: Save and Review
- Save the changes.
- Review the impacted plans. Plans above the moved plan inherit its features. The moved plan inherits from plans below it.
Important Notes
- Existing customers don't move. They stay on their current plan, but upgrade and downgrade paths refresh.
- Feature inheritance: Plans above inherit features from the moved plan. The moved plan inherits from plans below.
- Use this carefully. Reordering can change pricing positioning and what new customers see when they upgrade.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will existing customers be moved to the new category?
No. Existing customers stay on their current plan. Only new sign-ups and upgrade/downgrade paths reflect the new structure.
Can I move a plan to a category in a different currency?
No. The dropdown only shows categories that share the same currency as the plan you're editing.
How does feature inheritance work after a move?
Plans above the moved plan inherit from it, and the moved plan inherits from the plans below it in the new hierarchy.
Will reordering affect billing?
Existing billing stays in place, but upgrade and downgrade flows for current and new customers will follow the new hierarchy.
