How to Import Opportunities into Sparkforge with a CSV
Sparkforge accepts CSV files up to 30 MB for opportunity imports. Map Contact ID, Opportunity Name, and Pipeline as required fields, then run the import from the Opportunities tab.
Bulk-load opportunities into your pipeline by uploading a CSV. Use this when migrating from another CRM, onboarding clients, or updating large batches of deals.
Prerequisites
- Permissions: Admin role required.
- File format: CSV (.csv) only. Excel and Google Sheets files are rejected.
- Size: 30 MB max. Split larger files.
- Sheets: CSV must contain a single sheet.
- Headers: Row 1 must contain headers, with at least one column matching a Sparkforge field.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Headers that don't match system field names.
- Rows missing required values (Name, Email, or Phone on contacts).
- Phone numbers with spaces, dashes, or letters.
- Duplicate records inside the same CSV.
Step-by-step import
- Open Opportunities and click Import.
- Pick what to import: Opportunities only, or Contacts and Opportunities together.
- Upload the CSV and choose whether you're adding new records or updating existing ones.
- Map columns to fields. Required fields: Contact ID, Opportunity Name, Pipeline. Optional: Opportunity Value, Opportunity ID (for updates). Green checkmarks = mapped correctly. Yellow triangle = missing or invalid.
- Verify and confirm. Add tags if needed, review the mapping, click Start Bulk Import.
Skip empty values on update
Check Don't update Empty Values to keep existing field data when the CSV cell is blank.
Importing contacts and opportunities together
If your CSV has both contact and deal info on the same row, select both objects on the import setup screen. Sparkforge auto-links them by row.
What you can't undo
Imports are permanent. Spot-check a small batch before running the full file. Past imports are visible under Bulk Actions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I import opportunities without contact data?
No. Every opportunity must reference a valid Contact ID that already exists in the account.
What file format does Sparkforge accept?
CSV only, 30 MB max. Excel and Google Sheets exports must be saved as CSV first.
Can I import into multiple pipelines at once?
Yes, as long as each Pipeline name in the CSV matches an existing pipeline in your account exactly.
What happens if a field is mapped wrong?
The import skips affected rows or fails. Fix the mapping and re-run on the failed records.
Can I undo an import?
No. Imports are permanent. Test on a small batch first and review past imports under Bulk Actions.
