How to Edit an Opportunity in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Open Opportunities, find the deal, click into it, and update any field — contact, value, stage, owner, custom fields. Notes and tasks added here also flow to the linked contact. Drag and drop to update status.

Opportunities change as deals move forward. Editing them keeps your pipeline data accurate and your forecasting honest.

Step 1: Open Opportunities

Log in to your sub-account and click Opportunities in the sidebar.

Step 2: Find the opportunity

Use the search filters or scroll through the list. Click the opportunity name or title to open its details.

Step 3: Update opportunity details

On the details page, you can edit:

  • Contact name and contact info
  • Opportunity value
  • Opportunity source
  • Pipeline stage
  • Owner
  • Tags
  • Any custom fields you've configured

Step 4: Add notes and attachments

Click Notes in the left sidebar to add notes or context. Notes added here also appear on the linked contact's record — you don't have to update both places.

Step 5: Set tasks and reminders

From the sidebar, set tasks or appointments tied to the opportunity. Assign to yourself or a teammate, set a due date, and pick a priority. Tasks and appointments mirror to the contact record automatically.

Step 6: Move through pipeline stages

Drag the opportunity to a new stage on the Kanban board, or change the stage in the Edit Drawer. Stage changes can trigger automation if you've set up workflows.

Step 7: Update status

Drag and drop the opportunity into Open, Won, Lost, or Abandoned at the bottom of the board. Default for new opportunities is Open. Marking an opportunity Lost prompts you to add a lost reason — useful for reporting on why deals fall through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do notes on an opportunity show up on the contact record?
Yes. Notes added on the opportunity automatically mirror to the linked contact, so you don't have to update both places.
How do I move an opportunity from Open to Won or Lost?
Drag the opportunity card into the status section at the bottom of the Kanban board. Marking it Lost also lets you record a lost reason.
Can stage changes trigger automation?
Yes. If you've built workflows that listen for stage changes, dragging an opportunity to a new stage fires the workflow automatically.
Why would I add a lost reason?
Lost reasons power reporting on why deals fall through — pricing, timing, competitor, no decision — and help you fix patterns in your sales process.
