How to Create vCard QR Codes in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge's QR Code Builder generates dynamic vCard QR codes that load your full contact card on scan. Edit the underlying contact info anytime without printing a new code.

A vCard QR code drops your full contact card onto a phone with a single scan — name, phone, email, address, website, and logo. Sparkforge's QR Code Builder makes them dynamic, so you can update the underlying contact info without reprinting anything.

When to use a vCard QR code

  • Networking events and trade shows where business cards get lost.
  • Email signatures and yard signs that need to convert to a saved contact in one tap.
  • Lead capture moments where typing your details is the friction.

Build a vCard QR code

Step 1 — Open the QR Code Builder

  1. Log in to your Sparkforge sub-account.
  2. Click Sites in the left menu.
  3. Open the QR Codes tab.

Step 2 — Pick the QR type

  1. Click Create QR Code.
  2. Enter a descriptive QR Code Name.
  3. Under Select QR Code Type, choose vCard, then click Next.

Step 3 — Fill in the contact

  • First name, last name
  • Phone number (required) and mobile number
  • Email and website
  • Profile image or company logo
  • Street address, city, state, country, postal code
  • Company name and job title

Click Next when complete.

Step 4 — Style the code

Set background, dot, and marker colors with the picker or a hex code. Choose a dot shape and marker style that match your brand.

Step 5 — Add a logo

Upload a logo or pick a built-in option. Toggle Remove background behind logo on for a transparent halo, off to overlay the logo flat.

Step 6 — Background and download

Optionally upload a page background image and adjust transparency. Then download the QR as PNG, SVG, or PDF and click Save to store it in Sparkforge.

Why "dynamic" matters

The QR encodes a Sparkforge URL, not the raw vCard. Update your contact details inside Sparkforge and every existing print of the QR keeps working. Reuse the same code across multiple campaigns and seasons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do vCard QR codes work offline?
Once scanned, the contact saves directly to the device. The phone needs internet for the initial fetch, but the saved contact stays available offline.
Can I include social media links?
Not in the vCard format — only standard contact fields. For social links, use a Sparkpages link-in-bio page instead.
Can I change my contact info after printing the QR?
Yes. The dynamic URL means edits to the contact in Sparkforge update what scanners see. Existing prints continue to work.
Which devices can scan the code?
Any modern smartphone with a built-in QR scanner. iOS and Android camera apps both handle vCard QR codes natively.
What file formats can I download?
PNG, SVG, and PDF. Use SVG for print at any size and PNG for web use.
