How to Create a Fixed Countdown Timer in Sparkforge
A fixed countdown timer counts down to one specific date and time. Build it under Marketing > Countdown Timer, set the end date, set the active and expired links, and style it to match your brand.
Fixed countdown timers count down to a single, specific moment — a launch, an event, the end of a sale. Once the time hits zero, the timer expires and visitors are routed to your expired link. This guide walks through setup inside Sparkforge.
When to use a fixed timer
- Product launch: build anticipation on a landing page, in emails, and on social leading up to release.
- Event registration: show how long visitors have to register before doors open.
- Sale or flash promotion: count down to the moment the offer ends.
- Sign-up deadline: remind people the window to join is closing.
Create the timer
- Open Marketing in the left nav and pick Countdown Timer.
- Click New to start a fresh timer.
- Pick a template and click Continue with this template.
- Set the Timer Type to Fixed.
- Configure timer details — set the end date and time.
- Add the Active Link (where users go while the timer is running) and Expired Link (where users land after expiration).
- Open the Styling panel and adjust colors, fonts, expiry image, and time display format.
- Click the title at the top to rename the timer to something descriptive.
- Click Save to activate.
Tips
- Match your brand colors and fonts under Styling so the timer looks native to your site.
- Use a clear expired image — when the timer hits zero in emails, visitors see this asset.
- Test in a preview before sending. A typo in the end date is hard to catch once it's live.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between fixed, recurring, and dynamic timers?
Fixed timers end at one specific date and time. Recurring timers reset on a defined interval. Dynamic timers are personalized — the countdown begins when each contact opens an email or visits a page.
Where can I use a fixed countdown timer?
In Sparkforge funnels and websites via the Countdown Timers element, inside email campaigns, or on third-party sites using the embed code.
What happens after the timer expires?
The timer renders an expired state image and any clicks route to your Expired Link. Update the linked page in advance so it's ready when expiration hits.
Can I edit a fixed timer after it's live?
Yes. Edit the timer under Marketing > Countdown Timers and your changes propagate everywhere it's embedded.
