How to Hide Countdown Timers in Apple Mail
Apple Mail on iOS 15+ caches email content, freezing countdown timers at delivery. Enable Hide Timer in Apple Mail in the timer's Styling tab to suppress it for Apple recipients while every other client still shows it live.
Apple Mail on iOS 15 and later preloads email content for privacy, which freezes countdown timers at the moment of delivery. The fix: hide the timer for Apple Mail users only.
Why this matters
- Apple Mail shows a frozen or expired timer if not hidden
- Frozen timers undermine the urgency of the campaign
- Hiding for Apple users keeps the timer accurate everywhere else
- One checkbox — no campaign rebuild required
Hide the timer for Apple Mail
- From your Sparkforge dashboard, open Marketing → Countdown Timers.
- Click the pencil icon to edit an existing timer, or click + New to create one.
- Open the Styling tab in the top navigation.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Styling panel.
- Check Hide Timer in Apple Mail.
- Click Save in the top right.
What Apple users see
Nothing — the timer is suppressed entirely. The rest of the email body still renders normally. Every non-Apple Mail client (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, web clients) keeps showing the live timer.
Expiry redirects still work
If your timer is wired to a button with a dynamic link, expiry redirection still fires after the deadline passes — even for Apple Mail recipients who never saw the timer.
