Facebook and Instagram Chat Widgets in Sparkforge
Facebook Chat and Instagram Chat are widget types that send visitors into Messenger or IG DM instead of an on-site chat. Connect your Meta account, pick the page, customize the widget, and embed the code on your site.
Facebook Chat and Instagram Chat widgets let visitors continue conversations on the Meta channel they already use. Instead of opening an on-site chat thread, the widget redirects to Messenger or Instagram DM, and every reply still routes back into the Sparkforge Conversations inbox.
How these widgets behave
- Frictionless engagement: visitors keep talking in Messenger or IG DM, not a separate web chat.
- Channel preference: meet customers on the platform they already check daily.
- Unified inbox: messages land in Sparkforge Conversations alongside SMS, email, and WhatsApp.
- Cross-device continuity: threads persist in the Meta apps, so history follows the visitor between phone, tablet, and desktop.
Set up a Facebook or Instagram chat widget
Step 1: Create a new widget
Go to Sites > Chat Widgets and click the blue + New button.
Step 2: Pick the chat type
In the type selector, choose Facebook Chat or Instagram Chat. If a Meta account is connected but no page is selected, a page-picker modal appears.
If no Meta account is connected to the sub-account, the modal will instead prompt you to connect one. Open that link, finish the connection, then return to the widget builder.
Step 3: Customize
Use the Style, Chat Window, and Messaging tabs to set colors, greeting text, and the launcher icon. Inside the Chat Window tab you can also swap the linked Facebook or Instagram account or click Connect a linked Facebook/Instagram account to add more pages.
Step 4: Embed the widget
Click Get Code and paste the snippet into your site or funnel. For WordPress sites, click Get it for WordPress. The widget can also be added directly inside Sparkforge Funnel and Website builders.
Important behaviors
- Each widget is tied to a single channel. To bubble Messenger and IG together, use the All-in-One Chat widget instead.
- Visitors must be logged in to Facebook or Instagram. If they aren't, the Meta login screen opens first.
- Workflow triggers like Facebook Message or Instagram Message can tag, route, or follow up on incoming messages automatically.
