Collect Visitor Details Before Live Chat Starts in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Enable the Contact Form on Sparkforge's Live Chat widget to require visitors to submit name, email, or phone before they can start chatting. Every conversation becomes a CRM contact, ready for follow-up and automation.

The pre-chat Contact Form prompts visitors for contact details before the message box unlocks in the Live Chat widget. Every conversation gets tied to a contact record — no more anonymous chats.

Why use the contact form

  • Guaranteed lead capture. Every chat creates a contact in your CRM.
  • Faster follow-up. Your team or automations can reach out without chasing details.
  • Smart re-entry. Returning visitors with an active chat skip the form and resume instantly. If the prior chat was deleted or ended, the form re-appears.
  • Session continuity. Auto-reconnect preserves message history through page refreshes.
  • Cleaner CRM data. Standardized intake reduces incomplete threads.

How to enable the contact form

  1. Go to Sites > Chat Widget in your sub-account.
  2. Select the widget you want to configure.
  3. Open the Chat Window tab.
  4. Open the Live Chat Assigned drop-down.
  5. Toggle Enable Contact Form ON.
  6. Click Save.

To disable, toggle the option OFF. The widget will start chats immediately without asking for contact details.

Customize the prompt messages

Two editable message fields control how and when contact details are requested. Customization applies to Live and All-in-One (Live) Chats.

Contact Form Intro Message

Shows automatically just before the form when Enable Contact Form is ON. Default: "Please share your contact details." Leave blank to skip the prompt and show the form immediately.

Edit it in the Chat Window tab under Contact Form Intro Message. This field is only visible when Enable Contact Form is ON.

Contact Form System Message

Triggered when an agent clicks Request Contact Details in Conversations. Agents can fire it even after the intro message has appeared. Edit it in the Chat Window tab under Contact Form System Message. Visible regardless of the toggle state.
