Customize Dashboard Widget Filters and Charts in Sparkforge
Open a widget's Configure tab to set chart type, metrics, and grouping. Use Conditions to apply AND filters within a group and OR logic between groups.
Widgets become useful once you tune the chart type, metrics, and filters to your actual question. This walks through the settings inside any Sparkforge widget.
Where to find customization
- Open the dashboard.
- Click the widget you want to modify.
- The Configure and Conditions panels open on the right.
Step 1: Choose the widget
Each widget has a default chart type. To change it, click the chart icon and pick a different visualization.
Step 2: Configure widget settings
In the Configure tab:
- Title — rename the widget so the purpose is obvious.
- Metrics — the data points displayed. Line, Bar, and Horizontal Bar charts support multiple metrics.
- Group — grouping for charts like donuts.
- View By — secondary dimension for line and bar charts.
- Breakdown — time period frequency.
- Date Property — which date field drives the result (Created, Updated, etc.).
- Date Range Override — overrides the dashboard's global range for this widget only.
- Order — ascending or descending.
- Limit — max number of rows.
- Comparison Date Property — adds a percentage comparison.
Chart type picker
Pick the chart inside Configure — bar, line, pie, etc. — and use the live preview to confirm before saving.
Step 3: Add conditions
Nested filter groups (OR logic)
Filters within a group use AND. Multiple groups use OR between them.
- Open the widget and go to Conditions.
- Click Add Filter to create Group 1.
- Use +AND to add filters inside the same group.
- Click +Add Filter again to start Group 2 (creates an OR).
- Save when done.
Note: Visitor Data Widgets only support a single filter group.
Duplicate filters via groups
To match the same field with two values (Source = google OR Source = facebook), put each in its own group.
Linked filter warnings
Some filters depend on each other — Pipeline and Stage, for example. If a combination conflicts, you'll see an inline warning in Conditions. Adjust either filter and save.
Step 4: Save
- Click Save on the widget.
- Adjust size or position on the dashboard if needed.
- Click Save Changes on the dashboard to commit.
If no data matches the filter, the widget can't be saved until the filter is adjusted or removed.
