Countdown Timer Placeholders When Sharing Email Templates

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Countdown timers don't carry across Sparkforge subaccounts. When you share an email template containing a timer, the timer becomes a static placeholder — you must replace it with a countdown timer from the destination subaccount.

Countdown timers are scoped to the subaccount that created them. When you share an email template containing a timer to a different subaccount, the timer is replaced by a non-functional placeholder. You'll need to drop in a countdown timer from the destination subaccount to make it work.

This currently applies to email templates only. Funnel and other template types don't support countdown timer sharing yet.

Steps

1. Embed the countdown timer

Go to Marketing > Emails > Templates and create or edit a template that includes a countdown timer. Create a timer first if you don't have one.

2. Share the template

Exit the template, click the three-dot action menu, and select Share.

3. Copy the share link

In the Share Template modal, set permissions and click Copy Link.

4. Open the link in a new tab

Open the link yourself or send it to someone else. If you're logged into the agency, the page loads with an Add Template button.

5. Pick the destination subaccount

In the Clone Email Template modal, select the subaccount (location) where the copy should land. Rename the template if needed.

6. Replace the placeholder

In the new subaccount, go to Marketing > Emails > Templates, open the template copy, and click the placeholder. Select a countdown timer from that subaccount — create one if none exists yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't the timer carry across subaccounts?
Countdown timers are tied to the subaccount that owns them. The placeholder is what replaces it during a cross-subaccount share so you can swap in a local timer.
Does this apply to funnel templates?
Not yet. The placeholder behavior only applies to email templates. Other template types are on the way.
Do I need to create a new timer in the destination subaccount?
Yes, unless one already exists. Click the placeholder in the cloned template and select an existing local timer or create one first.
Will the email still send if I forget to replace the placeholder?
It will send, but the placeholder won't show a working countdown — recipients see a static block instead of the live timer.
