Private Channel-Based Course Access in Sparkforge Communities
Private Channel-Based Course Access lets you restrict a Sparkforge course so only members of specific private channels can see and enter it. Use it for paid content, internal training, or moderator-only programs.
Private Channel-Based Course Access ties a Sparkforge course to one or more private channels in a community. Only members of those channels see the course in the Learning section. Everyone else sees nothing — the course is invisible to them.
What You Can Do With It
- Gate premium courses behind paid or subscription-based private channels
- Run training only your moderators or internal team can see
- Hide early-access content from the general membership
- Link a single course to multiple private channels
- Spot restricted courses at a glance via the Private-channel based access tag
How to Set It Up
- Go to Learning and pick the course you want to restrict.
- Click Edit Course.
- Under the Visibility dropdown, select Private Channel.
- Choose one or more private channels from the list.
- Click Save.
Once saved, only members of the selected channels can see and access the course. Members outside those channels won't see it listed at all. Only Group Admins and Owners can change these settings.
The Visibility Tag
Any course with channel-based access shows a Private-channel based access tag in the listing, so admins can identify restricted courses without opening each one.
Notes on Behavior
- When a member joins a linked channel, course access is granted automatically.
- Restriction applies to the entire course — module-level gating isn't supported.
- Works with paid groups and Stripe-based subscriptions for monetized content.
