Announcement Channels in Sparkforge Communities

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Announcement Channels are read-only spaces in Sparkforge Communities where only admins and owners post. Pin critical updates, choose public or private visibility, and pair them with new level-up and course-release notifications.

Announcement Channels keep critical community updates out of the noise of general discussion. Only admins and owners can post; everyone else sees a read-only feed they can scroll, react to, and reference later.

What an Announcement Channel does

It is a specialized channel inside Sparkforge Communities with role-based posting access. Use it for product updates, event reminders, policy changes, or anything else that needs to land cleanly without getting buried in member conversation.

  • Prevents important messages from getting lost in active chat
  • Restricts posting to admins and owners
  • Supports both public and private (invite-only) visibility
  • Pinned messages stay anchored at the top
  • Convertible back to a regular channel at any time

Create an Announcement Channel

  1. Open Channel Management Settings from your community dashboard.
  2. Click Create Channel, or open an existing channel.
  3. Toggle Enable as Announcement Channel.
  4. Choose Public (visible to all members) or Private (restricted to selected users).
  5. Save and start posting.

Members see a read-only view with no input field. Admins and owners keep full posting and pinning rights.

Notification enhancements

Level upgrade notifications

Members get In-App and Push alerts when they level up. This rewards engagement and surfaces progress without manual outreach.

Level-based course release notifications

When a member reaches a level tied to a course, they get In-App, Email, and Push notifications that the course is now available. Tie content directly to progression.

Time-based course release notifications

Drip courses on a fixed schedule. Members get In-App, Email, and Push alerts the moment a new module is available.

Best practices

  • Use Announcement Channels for one-way updates; keep discussion channels for back-and-forth.
  • Pin only what stays relevant for days, not minutes.
  • Set up private Announcement Channels for internal admin coordination.
  • Audit notification preferences so members are not opted out of the alerts you rely on.
