Can I Use My Existing WhatsApp Number to Register in Sparkforge?
You can use an existing WhatsApp number in Sparkforge only by migrating it to the WhatsApp Business API through Meta. Once migrated, the number leaves the WhatsApp app for good — many users get a fresh number for the API and keep their personal number on the phone.
You can't plug an existing personal or business WhatsApp number directly into Sparkforge. The number has to be migrated to the WhatsApp Business API through Meta first. Meta only allows a number to run on one platform at a time — either the WhatsApp app or the API, never both.
When you can use your existing number
You can use the number if all of the following are true:
- The number is not currently linked to WhatsApp Messenger or the WhatsApp Business app, or you are willing to delete the WhatsApp account from the app to free the number for API use.
- You complete the Sparkforge WhatsApp API onboarding.
- Meta verifies and approves the number under your Business Manager (WABA).
Once connected, WhatsApp messages send and receive directly inside Sparkforge.
When you can't use your existing number
- The number is still active on standard WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business.
- You want the same number on your phone and in Sparkforge at the same time — Meta does not allow this.
Two paths forward
Option 1: Migrate your existing number
- Delete WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business from the phone app.
- During Sparkforge WhatsApp API setup, verify the same number.
- After approval, all WhatsApp messages live inside Sparkforge.
Once the number is on the API, it can no longer run in the mobile app.
Option 2: Use a new number
- Get a new phone number for the WhatsApp API (used with Sparkforge).
- Keep your existing WhatsApp number on your phone for personal use.
This is usually the easiest path if you don't want to lose access to your current WhatsApp app chats.
