How to Find Your Sparkforge Dedicated Domain SMTP Credentials

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

SMTP credentials are created at the sub-account level under your dedicated email domain. Use smtp.mailgun.org as the server, with ports 25, 465 (SSL/TLS), 587 (STARTTLS), or 2525. Five SMTP users max per domain, 1,500 emails/day per account.

Sparkforge's dedicated-domain email runs on Mailgun infrastructure. To send mail through it from outside the platform — a website plugin, a third-party app — you need SMTP credentials tied to the domain. This article covers where to create them, the connection settings, the limits, and what to do when credentials fail.

Note: Sparkforge does not host mailboxes, so we don't support POP or IMAP on outbound credentials. IMAP settings come from your inbox provider (Google, Outlook, etc.).

How to Create SMTP Credentials

SMTP credentials are created at the sub-account level on the sending domain — not on an agency-assigned domain.

  1. In the sub-account, go to Email Service > SMTP Service > Dedicated Domain and IP > SMTP Settings.
  2. Click Create New SMTP User and set a username and password.

Sparkforge runs an automated approval system on SMTP access. Eligible sub-accounts can create credentials immediately. If the account isn't approved, the Create New SMTP User button is disabled or shows a warning. See the troubleshooting section below.

SMTP Connection Settings

Reset or Delete SMTP Credentials

From the same SMTP Settings page, open the credential and use the Reset Password or Delete action in the pop-up modal.

Limits

  • SMTP credentials per domain: 5 maximum.
  • Daily email limit: 1,500 per account.
  • If the daily limit is exceeded, Sparkforge automatically deletes SMTP credentials from the dedicated domain. Recreate them after the cool-down.

Email Pricing

Sparkforge charges $0.675 per 1,000 emails across all plans — under Mailgun's direct rate of $0.80/1,000. Both incoming and outgoing mail (To, CC, BCC) is billed.

Track usage at Agency View > Billing > Credits.

IMAP Settings

IMAP retrieves mail; SMTP sends it. Sparkforge SMTP credentials cannot be used as IMAP credentials. Pull IMAP settings from your inbox provider.

Common IMAP hostnames

  • Gmail: imap.gmail.com port 993 (use a Google app password).
  • Verizon: imap.verizon.net port 995.
  • AOL: imap.aol.com port 993.

If your provider isn't listed, check their support docs or reach out to them for IMAP host and port.

Troubleshooting

"Unable to Create SMTP User" banner

The automated approval system hasn't cleared your sub-account for SMTP credentials. Contact Sparkforge Support with:

  • The sub-account ID.
  • The sending domain or subdomain.
  • A screenshot of the warning banner.

"SMTP Credential creation is blocked"

Your account hit a usage threshold or compliance flag — typically the 1,500/day email cap. Contact support to review the account status, lift limits, or clear flags.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I create SMTP credentials in Sparkforge?
At the sub-account level: Email Service > SMTP Service > Dedicated Domain and IP > SMTP Settings. SMTP credentials cannot be created on an agency-assigned domain.
What is the SMTP server address and which ports work?
Server is smtp.mailgun.org. Sparkforge supports ports 25, 465 (SSL/TLS), 587 (STARTTLS), and 2525. Pick whichever your client or plugin supports.
How many SMTP credentials can I create per domain?
