Website Detection in Sparkforge Marketing Audit Reports

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Marketing Audit Reports check Google Business Profile and Local Listings for a prospect's website, then categorize the result as Missing, Not Reachable, or Fetching so customer-facing reports stay accurate.

A binary found / not found on a prospect's website is too coarse for an audit report. Sparkforge Marketing Audit Reports run multi-source detection and assign one of three outcomes so you can position services correctly.

How detection works

  1. Generate or open a Marketing Audit Report in the Prospecting Tool.
  2. The system checks multiple sources for the business website, including Google Business Profile (GBP) and Local Listings.
  3. The report assigns one of the outcomes below and renders it in the customer-facing Web and PDF reports based on display rules.

Detection outcomes

Outcome 1: Website Missing

  • Meaning: No website is listed in any supported source.
  • Customer-facing: Shown in Web and PDF reports.
  • Agency play: Pitch a website build.

Outcome 2: Website Not Reachable

  • Meaning: A URL exists but cannot be reached. Common causes include expired domains, broken links, and server errors.
  • Customer-facing: Shown with an explanatory message.
  • Agency play: Pitch a website fix or recovery.

Outcome 3: Fetching Website Data

  • Meaning: The detection request is still in progress or temporarily delayed.
  • Customer-facing: Hidden until the system successfully fetches data.

Why this matters

The three outcomes split lost-cause prospects from real opportunities. Missing means net-new build. Not Reachable means hosting or domain rescue. Fetching means wait and re-run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the report say no website even though the business has one?
Detection only uses supported sources like GBP and Local Listings. If the website is not listed there, the audit will not find it.
What does Website Found but Not Reachable mean?
A URL was returned by a source, but the site could not be loaded at the time of detection. Expired domains, broken links, and server errors are common causes.
Why don't customers see the Fetching state?
Customer-facing Web and PDF reports skip the in-progress state until detection completes successfully. This avoids showing partial data.
Can the detected status change later?
Yes. If the prospect updates GBP or a previously unreachable site comes back online, regenerating the report can produce a different outcome.
Where do I run a Marketing Audit Report?
Open the Prospecting Tool in Sparkforge and generate the audit. Website detection runs as part of building the report.
