How to Use Listings and Categories in Sparkforge Rentals
Listings are the individual rentable items in Sparkforge Rentals. Categories group those listings so customers can browse a clean booking page and you can manage inventory at scale.
Rentals in Sparkforge is built on two pieces: Listings and Categories. Listings are the individual rentable items. Categories group similar listings together so the booking page stays organized and customers can find what they need fast.
What Listings and Categories Do
A Listing is one rentable unit — a property, a vehicle, a room, or a piece of equipment. Each listing carries its own images, description, pricing, optional inventory count, and active/inactive status.
A Category groups similar listings. A property manager might use Beach Houses, Urban Lofts, and Mountain Cabins. An equipment rental shop might use Cameras and Lighting Gear. Each listing belongs to one category.
Why the structure matters
- Organization: Categories make a large inventory navigable for staff and customers.
- Public layout control: Reordering categories changes how listings group on the booking page — no extra settings to touch.
- Direct sharing: Each listing and category has its own shareable URL, so customers land exactly where you want.
- Per-listing config: Pricing, booking rules, and calendar sync are set on the listing itself.
Open the Rentals Module
- Click the Calendars tab in the left navigation.
- Select Calendar Settings from the top ribbon.
- Choose the Rentals tab.
- Click Listings.
The Listings Panel
The Listings panel shows every rental at a glance. Each row carries the thumbnail, name, status, base price, stock, and quick actions (edit, duplicate, share, delete). The toolbar adds search and a name-based sort.
The Category panel sits on the left. Selecting a category filters the list to that group. The three-dot menu next to a category opens Edit, Share, or Delete. Drag categories to reorder them — the order mirrors what customers see on the booking page.
Create a Category
- Go to Rentals → Listings.
- Click + New Category in the category panel.
- Enter a Category Name and Custom URL Slug (the slug forms the shareable link).
- Click Create Category.
Keep names short and clear — Luxury Cars, Economy Vehicles — for a clean UI. Categories cap at 50 per account.
Manage and Share Categories
Edit: three-dot menu → Edit. Update the name or slug, save.
Share: Share Category copies a public booking link filtered to that group.
Delete: three-dot menu → Delete. Listings inside a deleted category move to the Default Category.
Reorder: drag and drop in the left panel.
