Track Sparkforge Affiliate Referrals by Status

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

The Affiliate Portal Referrals tab groups your contacts as Lead, Signup, Active/Paying, or Cancelled. Commissions pay only on Active/Paying customers; the others show pipeline state.

The Referrals tab in the Affiliate Portal shows every contact tied to your affiliate links and groups them by status. Use it to understand pipeline state and confirm where your commission credit is coming from.

How to find it

  1. Open the Affiliate Portal.
  2. Click Referrals at the top of the dashboard.

The list now shows the first name of each referral alongside their status.

Status categories

Any

Every referral, across all categories. Use it for a top-line view.

Active / Paying

Current, paying Sparkforge subscribers. You earn a commission each time they renew. Pauses, cancellations, and refunds remove the commission for those months.

Signup (Free / Trial)

The referral completed sign-up and has an active trial. Their status shows Not a customer yet. They flip to Active / Paying on their first paid invoice.

Lead (Subscribed)

The referral started step one of trial sign-up using your link but did not finish. You may see the state shown as either Lead or Subscribed; in this context the two are interchangeable.

Cancelled

The referral cancelled their Sparkforge subscription. No commission while in this state. If they reactivate, they move back to Active / Paying.

Known cancelled state quirk

A bug occasionally marks an affiliate customer as Cancelled when they cancel an unrelated Marketplace Service. Their account flips back to Active on the next Sparkforge subscription payment. Reach out to Support if a customer looks Cancelled but is still paying.

Reading your pipeline

  • High Lead count, low Signup: people are clicking but stalling at step two of trial sign-up. Tighten your follow-up.
  • High Signup, low Active/Paying: trials are not converting. Check what they are seeing in the trial.
  • Rising Cancelled: review what segment of customers you are bringing in and whether the fit is right.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Lead and Signup?
Lead means the referral started sign-up but did not finish. Signup means they completed sign-up and are in their free trial period. Both are pre-commission states.
When do I start earning commission?
When the referral pays their first invoice and moves into Active / Paying. Commissions accrue each month they remain a paying subscriber.
Why does a paying customer show as Cancelled?
A known bug occasionally marks an affiliate as Cancelled when they cancel an unrelated Marketplace Service. The flag clears on the next Sparkforge subscription payment. Contact Support if it persists.
Will I see referral first names in the dashboard?
Yes. The Referrals view now shows first names for each referral so you can match them to your outreach.
Do refunded customers count toward commission?
No. Refunds, cancellations, and pauses remove commission for that month. Active, paid renewals are the only state that pays.
