How to Add a Search Bar to Your Sparkforge Ecommerce Store

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Sparkforge stores include a Search Bar element you can drop onto any page or enable in the navigation menu. Suggestions match product titles, full results match titles and descriptions.

Long product lists kill conversion when shoppers can't find what they came for. The Search Bar element in Sparkforge stores fixes that. Add it as a standalone element on any page, or turn it on in your navigation menu.

How to add the search bar

  1. Open the page builder for your store and go to Add Elements.
  2. Under the Store section, drag the Search Bar element onto your page.
  3. To put a search bar in the navigation menu instead, open your navigation menu settings and toggle Show Search Bar on.
  4. Configure the look: button color, input box text and background color, dropdown text and background color, border colors, font size, and font weight.
  5. Save and publish.

How search behaves

  • The dropdown suggestions match against product titles.
  • When the shopper submits the search, the product list page returns results matching titles and descriptions.
  • The standalone element exposes the full set of styling options. The nav menu version is more limited.

Notes

  • Only websites that have a store attached can use the Search Bar element. It works on store pages and non-store pages alike, as long as the site has a store.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does search look at product descriptions?
The dropdown suggestions match titles only. When the shopper submits the search, the results page matches both titles and descriptions.
Can I style the search bar in the navigation menu the same way as the standalone element?
No. Nav menu search has a limited set of styling options. Use the standalone element if you need full control over colors, fonts, and borders.
Can I add the search bar to a non-store page?
Yes, as long as the website itself has a store attached. Search results will still come from the store's product catalog.
