Set Up Custom Shipping Zones and Conditional Pricing in Sparkforge

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Build shipping zones under Payments > Settings > Shipping & Delivery, optionally restrict by ZIP/postcode, and add rates that flex by order price or item weight. Customers see the right rate at checkout based on address and cart.

Sparkforge ecommerce stores let you set delivery charges by zone, ZIP/postcode, order price, or item weight. Build zones that match your real shipping costs and Sparkforge applies the right rate at checkout based on the customer's address and cart.

What a shipping zone is

A zone groups countries, states, or provinces that share the same shipping rules. Each zone can have one or more rates — flat or conditional.

Create a shipping zone

  1. Go to Sub-Account > Payments > Settings > Shipping & Delivery.
  2. Click Add Zone.
  3. Name the zone (e.g. US East Coast or Canada West).
  4. Select the countries and the states or provinces that belong in the zone.
  5. Click Add Rate to define costs.
  6. Optionally turn on conditional pricing by weight or order total.

At checkout, customers automatically see the available shipping options for their address.

Restrict a zone by ZIP or postcode

  1. Go to Payments > Settings > Shipping & Delivery.
  2. Open your Shipping Profile (General or Custom) and click Shipping Zones.
  3. Create or edit a zone.
  4. Enable Limit Shipping to Specific ZIP/Postcodes.
  5. Enter ZIP/postcodes separated by commas.

Accepted formats

  • Single code: 100210
  • Comma-separated list: 100210,122021
  • Wildcard prefix: 46* matches every code starting with 46

Validation rules

  • Wildcard * is allowed only at the end of an entry.
  • Duplicate or invalid values are rejected.
  • If ZIP restriction is enabled, the zone needs at least one valid entry to save.
  • If a customer's ZIP doesn't match any entry, the zone doesn't apply.

Conditional pricing — by order price or weight

Conditional pricing flexes the rate based on order total or total cart weight. Use it for free-shipping thresholds or heavier-package surcharges.

Examples

  • Free Shipping — orders over $500 or weighing 10 kg+.
  • Standard Shipping — $10 for orders below $500 or under 10 kg.

Add conditional pricing

  1. Go to Sub-Account > Payments > Settings > Shipping & Delivery.
  2. Under your zone, click Add Rate and enable Conditional Pricing.
  3. Pick By Order Price or By Item Weight.
  4. Set the minimum and (optional) maximum for the range. Examples: 0–10 kg or $0–$500.
  5. Enter the rate amount.
  6. Click Add.

Notes and best practices

  • Each state or province can only belong to one zone — Sparkforge blocks reuse.
  • You can stack multiple weight or price ranges within one zone.
  • Create a fallback zone covering remaining countries to avoid customers with no available rate.
  • Always run a test checkout from a few addresses after changing zones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mix weight-based and price-based rates in one zone?
Yes. Add multiple rates inside a single zone, each using its own condition — one by order price, another by weight.
What happens if a customer's address isn't in any zone?
No rate displays at checkout. Build a default fallback zone covering the remaining countries or states so every customer sees a shipping option.
Can I offer free shipping on specific products only?
Free shipping is set at the zone or condition level, not per product. Group the products into a dedicated zone with a free rate to mimic per-product free shipping.
How do I handle multiple countries with the same rates?
Group them into one zone (e.g. US & UK Zone) and assign shared rates. This keeps configuration tight and prevents duplicate setups.
How do I test a zone before going live?
Add products to a test order and run checkout with addresses from each zone. Confirm the right rate displays based on address, ZIP, and cart total or weight.
