How to Bulk Import Products into Sparkforge with CSV

By Sparkforge Support Team ·Last reviewed May 3, 2026

Bulk-load your product catalog into Sparkforge by uploading a CSV under Payments > Products > Import as CSV. Use the sample CSV as your template — column headers must match exactly.

Sparkforge supports CSV bulk import for products under Payments > Products. Use it to migrate a catalog from Shopify or any other system, or to seed a new account with services. Existing products can't be updated through CSV — this is a create-only flow.

Before you start

  • Account access to Payments > Products.
  • The sample CSV from Sparkforge (download in Step 2).
  • A spreadsheet tool — Excel or Google Sheets.

Step 1: Open the Products page

  1. Log in to Sparkforge.
  2. Go to Payments > Products from the main dashboard.

Step 2: Download the sample CSV

  1. Click Import as CSV.
  2. In the modal, click the link at the bottom to download the sample CSV.

The sample shows every required column header and the expected format. Use it as your template.

Step 3: Prepare your CSV

  1. Open the sample in Excel or Google Sheets.
  2. Fill in your products. Common required fields include Product Name, Price, SKU, Description, and Category.
  3. Match the format in the sample — column headers must remain exactly as provided.
  4. Save as .csv.

If you're importing services rather than physical goods, leave fields like weight, inventory, and image source blank — but keep the column headers in place. Removing a header or renaming it produces an error like Column 1 is not correct.

Step 4: Upload

  1. Return to Payments > Products.
  2. Click Import as CSV.
  3. Select your CSV file. A preview opens.

Step 5: Preview and confirm

  1. Review the preview row by row.
  2. If anything's wrong, fix it in your CSV and re-upload.
  3. Click Import Products to finish.

Limits and gotchas

  • Max file size: 10 MB.
  • Updates: CSV import does not update existing products. Matching SKUs do not overwrite.
  • Duplicates: Check for duplicate SKUs before upload.
  • Special characters: Strip non-standard characters that can break the parser.

Troubleshooting

  • File format errors — confirm the file is saved as .csv and the headers match the sample.
  • Missing required fields — Product Name, SKU, and Price are mandatory.
  • Header errors — if you removed or renamed any column, the import fails with a column-position error.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I update existing products through CSV import?
No. CSV import only creates new products. Matching SKUs do not overwrite existing entries, so re-importing the same file won't refresh prices or descriptions.
What's the maximum CSV file size?
10 MB. Split larger catalogs across multiple files.
I'm importing services, not physical products. What about weight and inventory fields?
Leave those values blank, but keep the column headers in your CSV. Removing or renaming any header causes an error like 'Column 1 is not correct.'
What happens if my CSV has errors?
Sparkforge displays an error message in the upload preview pointing to the issue. Fix the CSV and re-upload — partial imports do not happen.
Will importing overwrite my existing product data?
No. Bulk import doesn't support updates, so existing products are never overwritten by the import process.
